Hi guys, I'm new here as well as a new owner of a well maintained 95 q45 with almost 200k, and I love it. However, there are two parts I was told by my mechanic were dealer only, and I can't find them online. I was hoping some of you would be able to help. Obviously as inexpensive as possible would be great too! I need a new starter motor, I've only been able to find those new for about 270 dollars. The other part I need is the actual sensor that monitors oil level and trips the oil light when the oil is too low. Apparentley, according to my mechanic, that part is actually leaking oil and it's getting pretty bad now. Can anyone help? And are these 2 parts that are commonly going bad? Thanks guys!

Stacy

You can get those things from Joe.. Call him up 1888-216-5328....

The oil thing isnt a level sensor, its a pressure sensor, it goes off when you have more than like 3psi of oil pressure (which is kinda pointless).. But they are known to leak... Theyre like $10

you can see what a starter is from Joe...

Its also possible you have a much cheaper starter relay that is bad.....

What are the symptoms that makes you think the starter is bad?

Stacy-The starter: $289.70 ($40.00 of that is refundable if you ship your old one back to me)Oil pressure switch: $9.75Shipping ground is $7-$8 bucks. Both parts are factory & brand new. I would be very careful with an aftermarket starter, I have heard pretty bad things about some of them. Thanks guys. I believe the starter is bad due to the symptom I have. Every now and again, too often for comfort recently, when I go to start the car, the starter grinds like the car is already started. I'll stop and wait a few seconds, sometimes it does it again, but most often it will start up after that. So I figure that maybe it's not engaging with the flywheel all the way, perhaps it is gummed up or something. I took it to my mechanic, he ordered a starter, they sent him the wrong one, so he sent it back and just removed my starter and cleaned it out, he said it was pretty gummed up. It worked great for a few weeks but now it's doing it again. So instead of trying to start my car and hearing the horrible grinding noise, I'd rather just replace the starter.

As far as the oil leak goes, I had the same problem on my 96. In my case it was the oil sending unit. I paid something like $60-$70 to have it replaced at my local mechanic. I literally stood there and watched them change it. It took all but 10 minutes to replace and that included them degreasing most of the old oil that run all over the under side of my car. It was considerably cheaper than the labor for the rear main seal (which was my first assumption on the leak.)

Good luck.
