So im starting an OEM rebuild And I was wondering what kind of piston rings should I go with if i want to make a little under 500 hp? Whats a good source to get them? I looked at oem distributors like rockauto, beck/arneys??

Again, I want to have a nearly OEM setup and boosting to 17psi (sport 500s), I figured oem internals should be enough...

(Ill put up a thread later when I have enough stuff). I decided I dont want a raging dragon monster until I have another motor and money so I can slowly build to excess of 800hp. BUUT rightnow Im building an OEM block with cryo treated pistons, OEM gaskets, seals and such. Im going to to the basics, port polish, clean up the WJ, remove some over complicated piping, etc.

rock auto sells a lot of brands, some cheap some excellent, and I believe they do sell some beck arnley parts ewhihc in many cases are OE's I've had parts come out fo the box with nissan part number stickers on them, for your power goals stock or cheap aftermarket should be fine

Im not saying cheap, I want real OEM lol. Basically build the first motor to stock spec (reasons being ideology, experience and most of all money  ). I already ordered a genuine NISSAN rebuild seal and gasket set , now Im just worried about the rings. Ive seen sets for 500+ dollhairs but is it worth spending that much on rings?

$500 rings!? no it's nto worth spending $500 on rings, you can have custome made rings from total seal for less, maybe you are looking at re-ring kits that include the bearings and gaskets

like I already said, beck arnley is equal to OE and in many cases is the OE parts

thanks. Next step for me is better injectors I think... Im not planning on anything over 14 psi on this motor when its built... should I still upgrade or is 370cc ok for that kind of boost? I dont want to strain any parts... maybe the turbos a little ;)

if you are planing 500 hp you will need larger injectors matching ecu and larger turbo's, if you plan to keep the stock turbo's then the stock injectors will do fine

Stock rebuilt turbos, JWT ecu or chipped and custom tuned, stock injectors, upgraded FMIC and piping, EGR delete, AIV delete, gutted cats, 2.5 in full exhaust, POP charger intake... what are the highest optimal numbers that Im looking at? I heard someone making around 450hp on a similar setup. Any thoughts?

bs, the most anyone has seen on stock turbo's is like 405 whp and thats with hours of dyno tuning on nistune running like 18 psi, maybe with cams, pistons ballanced ported etc higher numbers are capable but upsizing the turbo's would be cheaper, most stock turbo vcars with off the shelf chips and allt he other bolt ons max out around 380 whp

i thought the turbos can handle max 15psi before they start burning and loose efficiency?

16 is the commonly accepted but I think this has a lot to do with the limits of off the shelf ecu mods, with propper tuning upgraded intercoolers and larger injectors you can get run more boost but he gains taper off

the stillen package cars (which is the popular stage 3 mds) advertized 380 crank hp at 14-16 psi, stock is 300 crank hp wihc is about 260 whp, the stage 3 mods should make aroudn 320 whp
