lol im against cuz an ls1 belongs in anything other than importants in my opinion. I have the upmost respect for domestics but a domestic is always a domestic and an import will always be an import.

Thats one expensive swap. If you want to go V8 try a Mustang 5.0L, you can find them in scrap yards almost everywhere. Parts are on the cheaper side and plenty of aftermarket engine upgrades. Cheaper then that would be a Ford 302, then turbo it!

I would stay with a smaller engine or if your going to do a swap atleast use another import engine.

do you already have the engine? cause there are plenty of more powerful, cheaper engines out there with better aftermarket support. and good luck getting a manual transmission on that thing.

i'd go for an LS1 or LT1. probably weighs just as much if not less, more compact, and better power and mileage. (there was no reasearch inolved so i may be a little off)

thanks for the opinions they are all greatly appreciated. as for the manual im fairly sure the v-6 has the same bell housing bolt pattern etc. and it came with the manual. however i think i changed my mind due to your thoughts...are there any import v-8s that i could swap in?? im not familiar with any.

the v6 and v8 were quite a bit different so don't count on the v6's transmission. v6 is a duratec and the v8 is a jag based design i think. the manual v6s are pretty rare anyway, only like 2% of the total run i think.

as for import V8s, i personally think it's stupid to stick with an import engine just because it's an import, but that's just me. sticking with the same company makes sense because it would be easier to get things to work together. your best bet is a vh45 from a q45. it's been done before but not too much so the waters aren't completely uncharted.

i still vote for the LS1.

my brother (240shorty) suggested the q45, it sounds tempting. id do the ls1 thing except its a gm product (no offense to you chevy lovers out there) maybe a 5.0 though, a 4.6 is tempting but im sure its way too wide. im definately going to look into the q45, anyone know anything about it??

Don't know how well it would work but Toyota's 8 cylinder from the Lexus SC400

If you're not looking for displacement I vote that you stick with a smaller import engine. If you're interested in a project and this would be just for fun the I say do it.

the one thing GM does well, and they do it quite well, is make pushrod v8s and v6s. in fact i'd say all their engines are pretty decent, it's the rest of their cars that suck balls.
