i found a 91 240SX, charcoal gray the color i've been wanting. power everything, alarm, exhaust and intake for 850, it has a dent in the back 1/4 and the drivers door needs to be replaced, the guy has another door stripped down and ready to be put on. the car needs a new oil pump... i'm guessing he blew the headgasket or something. he said there is no rust at all on the car though so my question is. is it worth 850? and how hard would it be to replace the oil pump.

Is it worth it to you? I would probably try and get it for 6-700. As far as the oil pump goes, how mechanically inclined are you? What tools and facilities do you have? What would be very hard for one person would be a daily activity for another.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

i want something to tune up, mainly a 91-93 because they have the KA24DE and i want to build that up. i'm not very experienced mechanically, i replaced the head and belts on my eclipse once, but i'm eager to learn. i have an uncle who's a mechanic if i need help he could probably come look at it, we probably have most of the tools we'd need, my brother and dad work on stuff alot, my dad has a 68 dodge charger R/T and my brother just rebuilt an engine for his truck which is at about 450HP right now.

i've been looking for the last couple months for one that i like under 1k. and i check the classifieds here or ebay and autotrader most of the cars are 700+ miles away or like 2k.

the guy said he'd go to 850 because he just put money into the engine. i think the headgasket when that's why the oil pump is bad, brand new tires, and a couple other things. just curious if that's a fair deal. where else can i go to look for ones under 1k? i live in upstate NY and there are none on the sides of the road for sale and the ones i found near me are rusty.

Well, it sounds like you have the ability and resources to work on the car and do quite well. Given the lack of clean 240's in your area, it may very well be worth it. If it's worth it to you, and it's what you want, then it is worthy. I'd probably jump on it if I were you.

You can always try http://www.autotrader.com to look for 240's. Again, good luck!

why would a head gasket mess up the oil pump? i would not think the 2 would have anything in common. and if he replaced the head gasket then make sure to check it out really well. you never know what could have happened.
