GOOD MACHINE SHOP NYC AREA??

Hey my engine is on its last legs. I wanna get the block rebuilt extra soon. Does anyone know of or use a good mechanic or machine shop who can do this? I would prefer they use vasaline on my wallet.

i am looking for a machine shop as well. I found a good guy in New Jersey but I still want to look around before committing. Did you find one already?

There is a local shop here who shall remain nameless. They are very popular and always have a good showing at local shows. I have even got some work done there, but discovered that they are MEGA EXPENSIVE. I mean absurdly expensive. They easily triple any quote I have ever gotten for the same quality work.

It's really sad we have to go out of state to get some engine work done. I've got a quote from this shop two blocks away from me for $2,200.00. If I don't find anyone I'm just gonna keep saving and buy a NA SR20DE + transmission for $1,100.00 from JGY. Check out their site they have the best prices I've seen. Plus they're in Virginia so I can just rent a truck and drive down there to pick it up. I'll rent some lift time & a cherry picker, install myself. Even if I pay a mechanic $600.00 I'll save some dough for some good parts like an aluminum driveshaft. I'll keep u posted if I get lucky.

Well I am about to get moving on this. My parts will be here this week and I am not sure if I want to go with my first quote in NJ. There has got to be a decent shop that can get the machine work done, right and put together the engine for me with all of the new parts. Heres a bump.... anyone?
