Just wanted to get an opinion on a good intercooler kit for the ca. I cant seem t find any site that advertises or makes one for that motor?

What do I have to do to make one for an SR work?

get a kit for the s14 (from whatever manufacturer)...the s14 sr20 cold pipe (FMIC to Throttle body pipe) fits near perfect, and then buy a hot pipe for a s13 sr20 (the hotpipe as u should already know from researching this, does not come in fmic kits)

good luck

I run an ARC SMIC and custom aluminum piping. About $500 invested and works great! The intercoolers can be had for ~$200-$300 on eBay all the time.

The HKS kit is very nice witha huge core. Here is the part number you will need for the CA18 kit. (note I assume you have a CA in an S13 body, if not disregard this number.1301-RN085, this is for the S-type with the 65mm-thick core1301-RN083, this is for the R-type with the 103mm-thick core

Now if you have the S14 body style you will have to get creative because there is no kit for a CA in an S14, you will have to order the SR kit for the S14 and modify the piping.1301-RN109, S-type13001-AN003, R-type

You will have to go to an HKS dealer and have them special order the kit. If HKS still has some in stock any dealer worth a crap should be able to get it for you. I also run an ARC for now, but I have skyline GTR intercooler with a CA18DET Trust piping kit almost ready to go on An s14 SR kit should fit pretty well as the intake manifold is similar to our manifold (whereas the KA and the S13 SR use similar manifolds).

those of you with SMIC's, did you mount the inside bracket of the SMICs? my SR ARC one has an inside and outside bracket, the outside goes to the same place that the KA resonator box did, but the inside there's no matching holes on the frame rail.. have been thinking of just drilling through to the other side and using really long bolts (or hell even zipties), or trying to find some fancy gizmo that makes a screw hole in a sheetmetal type surface (screw holes that sort of rivet in place), but I don't know anything about fasteners so..

right now its just held up by the IC piping and the outside bracket.. and because of that I can't put the fender line back in (when I cut a hole in the bumper and liner for airflow) and sometimes the tire rubs..

IC piping holds mine in fine. Sean....WTF. Where is my hotpipe!!!

OguraPowerTuning: Nor do I. Just thought it was too funny to not have in my sig. I actually found that as a decal on eBay.

I heart you.

Just wondering....wanna trade for a Momo 4 pt harness by any chance? I'm trying to sell it, but the potential buyer is flaky.

I'd be down I could use a harness in the s12! I'll let you know when I'm done and get it in the mail.

Yes, I have a 90 240. I have seen both the blitz and HKS kit, both about 900 bucks. Now Im just looking for nice exhaust manifold for s15 turbo.

Rico05....do you use mandrel bent piping? That is very important to me........

My coldpipe is mandrel bent aluminum that I got from an ex-service man who had it made in JDM land. I paid $180 shipped for it. The hotpipe is welded mild steel that I am going to polish up all pretty. As soon as Sean gets it to me that is

Here is the coldpipe on the car:

Dayum son, that is pretty phat.

Great idea! I thought about hitting the jyards for a Saab FMIC, but that could be a better idea.
