I am leaving the active Army for a Defense Contractor job at Edgewood Arsenal/Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Anyone know any Import Tuner Shops in that area?

Its gonna be the first few days of next year.

I will be clearing my old unit first ansd then I have enough leave saved up to take leave for a couple months (and draw my salary) while I am already working at my new job.

My Mod fund for the 350 will be pretty healthy as a result and also I get a small raise as a civilian.

If I go NA I am getting: DC headers, Kinetix Plenum, Kinetix hi-flow cats, Nismo wheels, Nismo cat-back, technosquare re-flash, grounding kit.

Except for the reflash, I will buy all that from Jayson a long time Nico member/supporter who is now also a sponsor ( see my sig).

But if I decide to go FI, I will probably go with one of the better SC's or a APS TT.

MD is a bastage as far as emissions goes, but my brother was able to get "around" it. He got 2 year waivers each year. I can get you connected with him as you get closer to being in MD. He's just south of Balt.

Hmm I wonder, I was gonna keep my kentucky plates for the rest of the year, but then by the time I would be due for registration by the time all my Mods are done some of which might be substantial by that time.

Maybe I should register MD right away and then Mod?First out -of state registration is usually tougher inspection than the usual emissions...

Or just find a way to keep a KY registration?

Hmm,

Fred:

I moved to Maryland from PA about 2 years ago. When you move here the state makes you do a very thorough state inspection prior to getting your license plates. Much stricter than PA inspection. They only make you do it when you are registering your vehicle for the first time or if you buy a new or used car here and then want to get plates for it. The inspection is not an annual inspection.

Most counties require an emissions test. My county (St. Mary's County) doesn't require an emissions test. I don't know why they don't but the two surrounding counties do require the emissions test. I believe that the emmissions test is an annual inspection, but only emissions.

I would suggest you get your vehicle inspected first, get your plates THEN make your modifications. No sense taking a chance.

I live an 1 1/2 hours away from Baltimore so I don't know of any shops up there. Washington D.C. is only about an hour away from Baltimore. I'm sure there are some good shops in the region.

There are tons of cops in Maryland. Always writing tickets but people drive very fast here. I-495 (D.C. Beltway) speed limit is 55mph and people pass me when I'm going 80 mph. It's like the Daytona 500.

Good Luck!

One shop I know off hand is EIP tuning in Westminster, MD. Just north of Baltimore. http://www.eiptuning.com/. They mostly tune VW's.

The initial inspection is a "safety" inspection.

From the MD DOT siteQuote »A Safety Inspection is required for all used cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, special equipment, and class "B" for hire vehicles being titled and registered in Maryland. They must be inspected by a licensed Maryland inspection station, such as automobile dealers, service stations and specialized automobile service centers. A certificate of inspection issued by the inspection station within the previous 90 days of the vehicle titling must accompany the Application for Title. [/quote]
