I STILL havent done my install yet... I have been thinking of putting it off slightly, and upgrading the HU (plus itd make my install much simpler)...

Any suggestions that would look good, and offer preamp outputs for my amp???

Eclipse's new models just came out, most now play MP3s and I think they have some new entry level.

How much are you looking to spend?

Want to see nicer:

http://www.eclipse-web.com/

check out the new Eclipse A/V units, they're unreal - also way out of your price range

Sub $300, I would suggest - Nakamichi CD400 (I have this HU) - Eclipse 5423 (last years) - Pioneer Premier in that range - Alpine 7995 (last years), or the comparable 9000 series - Rockford Fosgate model made by Denon that was on clearance at sound domain for around 300 if you like the look of brushed aluminum this is a nice unit (dont remember the model number but can find it)

Ah, double din - can't help you there, I was looking for an SQ unit when I got mine, and I don't know of any double din SQ units - not to say there arent any, I'm sure there are, I just didn't find any.

Though those Eclipse A/V units I linked are double din - they aren't priced yet, but my guess is ~$2000

Actually, that would look sweet if it matched the dash, or better yet if you could find any dash it would match. :D

1000 dollars for headunit power and only 2 pre-outs? then if you hook it up to amps, the gauges become pointless? for $1,000.00? No thanks. HOWEVER... If the tube was for the pre-amp section, then that is one thing (cool)... but if the tube was meant for amplification!!?? Think about this, anybody that has any experience with tube amps knows that producing 45x4 of TUBE AMPLIFICATION generates a shat ton of heat and requires a lot of space. So it must not be a true tube AMP unit. My guess is that it has a tube pre-amp section and that the amplification is a stock chip amp. So that is okay, but then those gauges still dont do anything but bounce around. If you ask me that Pioneer one looks cooler, but bravo for Panasonic for doin something different!

i don't really care what it does, just think it looks damn sexy... especially with those analog guages bouncing around :pface it won a couple innovation/design awards in 2003

I just realized the "Tube" HU is a JDM Tyte unit. It's RHD biased, the controls would be a biotch to run from the drivers seat in a US car. Still it accomplished what it was after a very unique (without being flashy) look.

I still perfer the Alpine (above) of a Nak 95

You like analog gauges, this is sexy:

http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mc...odule

along w/ this guy:

http://www.mcintoshlabs.com/mc...MX406

and some of their amps (also w/ analog power gauges in the heat sink)?

If I had the money, I'd go all Mc just for the pure sexiness. Only thing is that I hope my next car has a nav screen (FX?), so then what?

Are you sure? I know Calrion bought McIntosh laboratories in the 90s, but they certainly give the impression that it is hand assembled stuff.
