Good for Short Drive Max Haul? (Bikes, Skis, Hockey in CA)

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi everyone,
I've read some topics but haven't found enough info yet.
I'm wondering if the EX35 is right for me as a daily driver.
Looking at a 2010 base.

I'm in SoCal and drive:
4 miles round trip to work (city) and 30 miles (city) for weekends.

Given the MPG, is this asking for trouble?
My current DD gets 15/20mpg as is on regular gas.

For those of you into sports/outdoors - How many passengers along with gear can you mix in these scenarios?
Bikes? I have a 29er with a quick release front. Friend has a regular size bike, no quick release.
Ski? I have my own gear and GF has her board.
Hockey? Do you put the seat down for your sticks or rest blade along the headrest? My stick is about 57"

Thanks all!

I think you would be happier with something slightly larger.

Hello

I coach and play hockey. I can put in 2 men's bags and sticks, and my coach equipment no problem with one seat down. But it is tight. I can also have 2 players/skiers and their gears with myself driving. Again, no problems. But no 4 gowned passengers. Gas is fine but not stellar. If there are only 2 of you, you will not have ny problems with the EX. I also have a 2010.

I coached and played baseball and could get myself, 4 players and bags in. They might be a little tight in back, but we were nice and comfy up front. That was when my kids were up to 8th grade. now in High School - one plays Hockey here in the desert (qualified national championship tourney this year!) and I can get myself and my wife - and two payers/two bags with the small seat folded down.

90% of the time, I am alone in it and I love it 100% of the time.

road trip... getting ready to go on a 6 hr drive through the AZ/Cal desert for the 3rd time. 1st time I got 27mpg on the way and 25 on the way back (at about 75-80 mph ave)... next year it was about 25 and 24 (drove a little faster, 80-90 mph)

Normal day to day driving. 7 miles each way to work. about 3 on the HWY and 4 in the city... I average about 20 mpg...
