I am in the process of doing a 5 speed swap and i need to get a flywheel now. Ive been reading around about flywheels and im stuck as to which ones are neccesarry for me. Im not gonna be going to the track and all, so i wouldnt need a fidanza light weight flywheel right? The city i live in is pretty hilly so what would i need? I also read that i shoudlnt get any ebay flywheels like xtd and such.

SO what would be a decent affordable flywheel for daily driving and some occasional fooling around that can last.

stock if you have a stock motor will be fine.... lighter ones won't really give you an advantage, just get an exedy (or comparible) stage 1

slightly stiffer, but it doesnt really mess with pedal feel

I'll agree with ya but he still needs to find a used stock one for around $20-$30 then have it resurfaced for $20-$30...

i agree with you but needs to purchase a flywheel first since the car is originally auto. if you have to buy a flywheel you might as well buy one that doesn't need resurfaced.

hey thanks a lot guys for the help. yea im doing auto -> 5 speed swap, so im gonna need a new flywheel. I live near a kragens so this is what my search came up with stock flywheels.

Which of these do you think is feezable. anyways these are cheaper than those xtd, f1 racing, etc. flywheels on ebay, but are they more reliable? I've never even heard of these brands. And what is this i read on partsamerica about the flywheel gear ring, o-ring?

I just need the flywheel it self thats all right?

Probably fine. Manufacturing standards are pretty decent these days.

If you decide on a lightweight one for whatever reason, I would suggest getting a chromoly one instead of one of those crazy multi-piece aluminum ones (like fidanza). I have heard and seen terrible things befall them because they are unable to cope with heat properly (like a steel one can).

fenco and perfection?

i dont know why you circled the "flywheel/flexplate" stuff

perfection clutch stuff is pretty good for the generic quality, ive got a clutch by them in my car now. just got a stage III though, so im about to pick up something better flywheel wise.

im in the same sort of predicament, probably gonna go fidanza just to change up the feel of the car. i think itll go well with the stage3 and b&m shifter.

im doing a auto -> 5sp swap myself, and am buying the competition clutch stage 2 clutch and the flywheel, just makes sense to replace those while the new transmission is going in
