hi.
im looking to buy my first 240, and, well, my first car. does this one seem like a good find for a decent price?
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/c ... 53355.html

and with my current car situation, i would probably have to drive it in the winter too. right now im driving a 92 olds cutlass ciera with 275k miles, and many problems. im certain it wont make another winter. so whatever i buy is gonna be driven in the winter.
i know you guys are gonna say just get a beater and buy one in the spring, but i dont feel like doing that.

i just want to know if this car looks like a good buy for the price.

thank you.

Looks alright, but are you looking for a shell or a running car? It will be bad to drive in winter but I assume you already know that. You might be able to find something a little cheaper depending on what you are looking for? If you have the $4,000 to spend I say just buy an s13 and then with the left over money buy a winter beater.

maybe if it was running, but a rolling shell and 1 "good" ka motor isnt worth 4k imo..

Hell no its not worth it for $4k. It doesnt run... i would do EXACTLY like J240sx said... buy a S13 or CHEEP S14, and with the left over money buy a winter beater... 240s arent the best winter cars. Plus why ruin a good 240 buy driving it in the winter, if your gonna do that... buy a POS beat up 240, save more, then buy a Nice 240 in the spring, and dont drive that one in the winter, and have 2!

well i wouldnt be able to get a beater and store it, cause there is no place to store it. so either i get a new car now, or i hope mine lasts through the winter, and if it doesnt im screwed cause ill end up with somehting i dont want.
and i would have the guy install the motor. he seems like he knows enough of what hes doing. and i would look at it first obviously before buying. i dont know all too much about that motor or any of the 240 motors reallly, for that matter, so what is usually the limit of miles that they can have before blowing up?

Most KA's give a good 250k run... if you dont abuse it, but dont hold me to it. I dont think you should get that 240! For the money ITS NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. Why dont you get a cheap beater, sell what pos your driving now, and in the spring buy a nice 240... then keep the beater for next years winter. All the NICE 240s will present themselfes in the spring... im a craigslister and im always on there... and i notice all the Nice, clean, good condition 240s come out then! I guarantee you other people can back me up on this... 240s arent that good in the snow, plus why ruin a good 240 (not many left, dont rust out ones). Im 17 and i only have 1 car MY 240... and this winter, its being stored in my garage, and not being taken out til spring... im sacrificing a car in the winter for keeping my 240 nice, and no salt rusting out my body, and underbody... next year ill have a beater to drive in the snow. Seriously man, just wait. I understand how anxious you may be...i was there in Nov. 2009 when i bought my first 240 at 15 yrs. old. I was so anxious i settled for a 90 hatch, with a GREAT SOHC motor, but the body was rusty, and needed alot of work. So i sold it and bought my current hatch, after MONTHS of searching for the right 240 for me... and what i noticed was the best 240s come on Craigslist during the spring and summer... You want a good one right... And if you got $4k to blow im sure you do... THEN WAIT, trust me!

for 4 grand he better put the good motor in, have it running perfect, install teh brakes, and replace the rear subframe bushing.

Also it looks lowered but theres no mention of suspension upgrades....sitting on cut springs maybe?

some people....

^^ it says in the listing that the suspension is back to stock, so whatever he had in the pictures is no longer on the car..
