Exhaust frees up some HP due to the 2.5 having a very restrictive exhaust flow setup. After that it's intake, headers, bd tuner, pulleys.

I have a 3.5 so I look more into 3.5 mods but from what I remember, the 2.5 guys were saying the best mod they had was the BD tunner. they all loved it. I heard the 2.5 pulley is just light weight and not an underdrive pulley so some members complained about not really getting any affect out of it.

i did a small review on the stillen pulley a coupe weeks ago if you wanna read about it, its in the coupe section somewhere under "stillen pulley review" or something like that, i have a 2.5 cvt and so far thats my favorite performance mod

other than that headers, intake and i'd look for your favorite sounding exhaust because the horse power difference between the higher end companies on a 2.5 isnt much (except stillen because of their lack of airflow due to a smaller pipe)

it lightens the pull from the engine to the alternator giving the alternator more power and leaving your engine with more power... basically its more power to the wheel and and it adds power to your alternator

Sorry, I know nothing about cars/mods. What is a BD tuner, and what does it do?

Bully Dog Tuners allow you to remove/change factory settings on the car (like a governor and whatnot), and modify the cars ecu for more performance... idk from what i read a tune wont do much for those with a 2.5 cvt transmission, plus it voids the warranty and if the cvt goes you get to buy a new one :woot:

There are underdrive pulleys for the 07+ Sentra Spec V. that fit our cars because we both share the same engine, and they are alot cheaper then the Stillen Lightweight ones (like $90-$120)

We also share headers, as well as Cams with the Spec V.... The headers might not void the warranty, but the cams will defiantly do that...

One mod for the CVT itself would be an external cooler. It apparently already has one but its not enough to effectively cool the transmission, so if you rigged it so the ATF went from the CVT, to the first cooler, to the new cooler, and then back to the CVT, you would be golden. Especially if you drive hard or do any extra mods to the car.

And if you do drive hard i recommend upgrading the suspension, the 2.5's handling can get shaky from 80mph+... :iconeek

Personally, im seriously considering selling my 2.5 cvt and buying... something faster... because until someone figures out how to make the cvt more durable... We're stuck with basic bolt-ons and an aftermarket thats very small and very expensive :crybaby

You can stick a turbo on it. Stay under 6PSI and you're golden.

i have a 2.5 cvt & the bully dog tuner makes a very noticable differance in performance, theres actually 2 tuners from bully dog. i have the power pup, which u download & update your tuner online plug it in Pick ur settings & uploade it to ur cars ecu & ur done. the other is the gt tuner that has a screen &lets u monitor specific details like gas milage & whatnot.

the spec v is the same engine but im pretty sure cams wont fit because the compression ratio's. (someone correct me if im wrong) & the header will fit but u will need to fully customize a new down pipe lol sorry bud

but there are headers made available to us by stillen which i will also highly recomend! but are not street legal, only meaning u wont pass smog whenever u do have to do it & cams specifically for our car are still being manufactured, still looking up more info on these as i will be purchasing them.

BD tuners void your CVT warranty?

not worth getting a BD tuner if you're getting a new car..cause if the CVT goes you're screwed.

It takes 5 mins or so to reflash the car to stock then take it to the dealer. I did it many times and they never knew the difference.

The BD Tuner allows you to do that, or you have to take to a tech?

Bullydog doesnt mod the cvt it mods the cars ecu... but if the engine is putting out too much power from the tune then it will kill the cvt, which will void the warrenty for the transmission IF the dealership finds out it had a custom tune... i think... idk i dont want to try it... plus even if you get a new transmission its just gonna happen again...

and im sure if they dont figure it out the first time, and im sure after the 3-4 free transmission they will be suspicous...

I sincerely doubt the BD would cause the transmission to fail. I know several 2.5 guys that have had it for awhile and no issues. Plus, like I said, it's a 5 minute detuning process that you can easily do yourself. :yesnod

3.5s should have absolutely no problems then, right?

Knock on wood* :rotfl It's like the first days of the xbox 360 all over again...

Idk ive herd of stock ones taking a dump not far past 35-40K... maintenance and driving habits effect the cvts life expectancy as well.

a few months ago i emailed a few online sites that upgrade auto trannys outta curiosity... and they claimed they could build the 2.5 cvt to handle up to 300ish hp for $3,500

and at the end of the day, even with all the bolt-ons in the world... the 2.5cvt is still a 200~ish hp, FF, auto weighing over 3,000lbs. Dont get me wrong i love my coupe, but theres just soooo much better out there...

depends if $3500-4000ish is worth a turbo @2.5psi to you... to each his own at the end of the day you pay for the mods and you drive the car

Kinda pointless there... You're looking at $5,500 for turbo then another $1,500 for install... And I know on mine I can't even get it below 3psi with my electronic boost controller.
