on a 3.5... op's 2.5s CVT wont handle a turbo.funkee wrote:You can stick a turbo on it. Stay under 6PSI and you're golden.
i have a 2.5 cvt & the bully dog tuner makes a very noticable differance in performance, theres actually 2 tuners from bully dog. i have the power pup, which u download & update your tuner online plug it in Pick ur settings & uploade it to ur cars ecu & ur done. the other is the gt tuner that has a screen &lets u monitor specific details like gas milage & whatnot.SilverBack805 wrote:Bully Dog Tuners allow you to remove/change factory settings on the car (like a governor and whatnot), and modify the cars ecu for more performance... idk from what i read a tune wont do much for those with a 2.5 cvt transmission, plus it voids the warranty and if the cvt goes you get to buy a new one![]()
There are underdrive pulleys for the 07+ Sentra Spec V. that fit our cars because we both share the same engine, and they are alot cheaper then the Stillen Lightweight ones (like $90-$120)
We also share headers, as well as Cams with the Spec V.... The headers might not void the warranty, but the cams will defiantly do that...
BD tuners void your CVT warranty?SilverBack805 wrote:Bully Dog Tuners allow you to remove/change factory settings on the car (like a governor and whatnot), and modify the cars ecu for more performance... idk from what i read a tune wont do much for those with a 2.5 cvt transmission, plus it voids the warranty and if the cvt goes you get to buy a new one![]()
The BD Tuner allows you to do that, or you have to take to a tech?Ranga14 wrote:It takes 5 mins or so to reflash the car to stock then take it to the dealer. I did it many times and they never knew the difference.
I sincerely doubt the BD would cause the transmission to fail. I know several 2.5 guys that have had it for awhile and no issues. Plus, like I said, it's a 5 minute detuning process that you can easily do yourself.SilverBack805 wrote:Bullydog doesnt mod the cvt it mods the cars ecu... but if the engine is putting out too much power from the tune then it will kill the cvt, which will void the warrenty for the transmission IF the dealership finds out it had a custom tune... i think... idk i dont want to try it... plus even if you get a new transmission its just gonna happen again...
and im sure if they dont figure it out the first time, and im sure after the 3-4 free transmission they will be suspicous...
3.5s should have absolutely no problems then, right?Ranga14 wrote:I sincerely doubt the BD would cause the transmission to fail. I know several 2.5 guys that have had it for awhile and no issues. Plus, like I said, it's a 5 minute detuning process that you can easily do yourself.
im bought my 2.5 cvt brand new just recently passed the 60k mile mark with all my mods & (knock on wood) have not had any issues never taken my car to the shop/dealership once! the 2.5 cvt can handle up to 250 hp! with all the bolt ons u wont reach that, idk what all the newbs are scared of?!Ranga14 wrote:

Thats good too hear. if i end up keeping my 2.5 i might look more into a BD thenRanga14 wrote:I sincerely doubt the BD would cause the transmission to fail. stay below 5 psi and u should be alright, i wouldnt risk it though.suprspinner wrote:i have a 3.5 , the cvt on it can handle a turbo? i thought any type of forced induction would kill it
Kinda pointless there... You're looking at $5,500 for turbo then another $1,500 for install... And I know on mine I can't even get it below 3psi with my electronic boost controller.suprspinner wrote:so its not a definite , what if you stayed at like 2.5psi? would you even notice it?
