When i get some money i want to buy a new set of rims. I was wondering what is good set of drifting rims? i didn't know if those lightweight kind would have to little lateral stiffness and end up "bowing". i really like the look of those advans( i think sa3r) but wasn't usre if they were strong enough.

uhhh....i dont really know anything about rims, and i would assume that there is a plethora of information available on this forum and other sites around the web...but if you are looking for an opinion, i plan on getting nismo rims, 17". i heard anything larger than 17 would hurt preformance..i guess this would be acceleration...i think i have even heard 17 inch rims are not the best to get, but they look nice, so i am willing to sacrifice a little.

like i said i dont know jack, so make sure u find the facts =)

advan sa3's would hold up fine, most wheels hold up fine for drifting, what you gotta be worried about is if you get larger rims(and tires), its MUCH MUCH harder to break the tires loose( I am planning on running 245-40-17 tires on my rears with a LSD), all the extra meat can actually hurt drift performance. Most guys just grab a cheap set of steel wheels, some cheap tires, and rag the **** out of them....

thats what I would do if its a strictly "drift" car...unless you travel to japan and make money drifintg, then get good rims....for post drift session

just my .02

generic steel rims...something you wouldn't mind replacing in a month.

The Nismo LMGT4's are made by rays engineering (aka volk racing). Most of the major manufacturers aftermarket rims are made by Volk Racing, Enkei or Advan (Yokohama).

You don't really want anything bigger than 16s if you're gonna be drifting, they'll be a pain to break loose. Just use steel rims, cheap, overinflated tires. You are bound to hit stuff and bang them up, why do it to good wheels you paid money for? Do you have an S13 or S14? If you have a 13 just get those seven spoke wheels or some other kind, or really cheap aftermarket wheels (Rota).

i think you decision lies in you abilities. if having an expensive set of rims is going to make you think, "i gotta be careful not to damage my rims while im drifting" then don't drift on them. one it sucks to have to replace them...and two worrying about damage to the car while drifting only makes it happen...same thing as riding a bike, skiing, anything...you think about falling and your bound to fall.

i think any rim is going to hold up just fine. drifters style as you probably know, the bigger the lip on the rim...the better. i normally drift on 17 all around.....i do keep any extra set of 15 stock alloys though. once you get used to the larger rim....it actually isn't harder to break free. i recently put my 15 on and i had an easier time with the 17...probably just because im used to them. if you watch any drift comps....a lot of s-13, s-14 drivers are actually using 18's.....with an average hp of 300 though.

MORE IMPORTANT than your rims choice (i think it's mostly about style and cost) is tires. if you want a drift set-up for the tires your tire width should be slightly less than the wheel width.there is a post some where in the TECHNICAL folder that i explain a drift set-up in more depth.

anyways good luck bro.

check ebay for a set of the nissan rims that came on the 240. the 7spoke alloys or the regular steel rims. You can usually find them for under $100 and most have tires on them.

Slideways, i like your rims. what kind are they. they look like the BBS wheels on my friends jetta GLI.

Oh and i got a cup of water you can borrow...as long as i get to go with..:D

oops, i meant SpeedDrift, not slideways

they are the tenzo shu-4 gunmetal ones. i picked them cuz i like the way they look, couldn't afford the shumachers, these are economical, and 17's weigh 21.5lbs.....not bad.
