Okay, so, tomorrow I'm going to pick up my ka24e for $250.I would love to save up some more money and do a swap, but i NEED to get this beast on the road so i can get to work and school. The engine im getting has 180K miles on it, and hes throwing in a new starter and a buttload of extra parts he has for it. Plus on top of that, i will have everything from the ka24e im pulling out of it, except the block because its got a nice gaping hole in it. I can put that engine in there and drive it to and from school and work while im saving up to buy my swap.

What i'm asking is, do you guys think that $250 for a ka thats got 180,000 on it is a good deal? He says it runs good and strong. OR should I just keep looking and see what else is out there. I've only got $500 to spend right now.

Think i should go for it?

I say pass... It should be free, for real.

You never know what you could be getting your hands onto, Just because he says something doesnt mean its true, Ultimately Its your decision.

I really think I'm going to go for it. I just need it to be able to get me from work and stuff. In the meantime, I'll save up for a good swap. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be good as long as i can get to and from a job.I'm just wondering if I'm doing the same thing you guys would be doing. I would like as much input as possible to help me to decide.

It sounds like regardless of what you hear on the forums you're going to go for it.

180k seems like a helluva lot of miles for an engine that you're putting in your car, especially all the hassle and BS you're going through to do so. I'd say wait and find something decent.

I got lucky...some guy who had no idea what he was doing sold me his 93 240sx hatch with 91k and 51k on the engine for 500 bucks. Although I spent some time shopping around for a 240 for a while, that is a phenomenally good deal. But hey, if you've gotta have some wheels, go for it.

i would say try to talk it down like mentioned before.

a item is worth only as much as someone is willing to pay.

Sweet! Thanks for all the input guys! I wasnt sure of whether or not i could get a better engine for that price or not. I'm trying to shop around and see what I can get, but i can't find anything all that great. If any of you guys see or know of any engines, let me know asap

the transmission from a ka24e will be the same for the ka24de right? Im assuming so, but im not sure.
