ca18det longblock (no turbo, exhaust manifold, wiring harness, transmission, etc) for $200? said to be in good condition and the guy lives about 3 miles away so i can pick it up. My little brother(kapower06) has a manifold and stock turbo but id want to upgrade that while its out of the car.

where can i look for a turbo, manifold, dump, dp set type of thing for this? Are harnesses hard to find?

sounds like a deal. all parts can be found with some patience on ebay, just search the engine code.

Tim nailed it. It sounds like I heck of a deal, but you might consider pulling the head and oil pan to make sure everything is as he says it is before you go to all the trouble of dropping the motor in.

most of us who own CA's seem to be pack-rats anyway, so between us and ebay you should be able to get everything you need. Like float said, if the motor is in fair condition it is a pretty nice deal.

Pack Rats for sure. You should see my friends garage, i almost feel bad because i have so many extra parts laying around. Front clip parts, extra CA, and an autotransmission. So yea, if your looking for extra parts you dont have hit up the forums first.

I would save some time and just go front mount, the whole setup will probably run you somewhere around $200. Its up to you though. I know how spending money can get out of hand with these cars and sometimes you just get what you can at the time.

i kinda think id rather go with a front mount since i want to get an equal length manifold, larger turbo, injectors, mafs, and a tune. My goal is to get all the performance i can before i put the motor in. What is the smic rated to?

ebay. just go to ebay. you can pick up a fmic for 20 bucks and get piping for 30 at auto zone/home depot (you have to go to az for the exhaust tubing, and hd for the connectors). hell, im sure you can get a ca18-specific kit from ssac for nothing these days.

You dont have to go through anywhere near that much trouble. The best kept secret in the CA world! Behold

The s14 sr20det fmic kit fits our chassis and motor perfectly. Im running the ssac kit for the s14 and sr but any kit made for that chassis and engine will work.
