Hi guys

There is a guy i know who is selling a complete RB26 motor for $800 CAD dollars, no harness and ecu is included. Now the only problem is it has a bent rod and it has a blown a head gasket. The Motor has about 85,000 kilometers. Now would it be worth buying this motor and sent it to have an OEM rebuild with a MHG and then sourcing a harness, ECU, RB25 transmission and oil pan. Or i am just better off Getting a motor set with everything included. any advise is appreciated

Doesn't sound half bad to me. Rods should be pretty easy to find. How hard was it knocking?

lol the only problem... to rebuild it properly will run you 3k easily including parts, and u still need ecu and harness

I guess in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad. But how hard is it to source the harness and ECU, And are there any "rebuild kits" for the rb26, the come with rods and pistons? And would any of you take this route or just get a complete motor or even go for the RB25?

Sounds like a project you better have 10k plus in the bank and ready to spend!!

Might be worth buying and parting out and making a profit vs fixing.

I think i might just look for something else then. I might still pick it up and part it like you said

I'm with rb25drag. To source all the right parts and harness and rebuild everything will cost you way more than a ready to go RB26. And if you already had a running RB26, an 800 long block would be a hell of a deal if you wanted to sell parts or needed them for yourself.
