I'm being quoted a price of $37017.15 for a 2010 G37x sedan, black/black with aluminum interior and the Premium, Navigation and Premium Wheels/Tires packages. I'm using the VPP program (thanks Joe and Canaan). They're also going to charge a $179 documentation fee and $450 for shipping, as they don't have a car in stock with these options.

They're also claiming there's no room for further negotiation, as this is a lower price than the dealership pays for the car. I seriously doubt that, as I know they have a million ways to manipulate the price and aren't going to be in business for long selling vehicles at a loss. But is this a good deal? A great one? is there room for further negotiation? If so, what should I ask for? I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thanks

if that price is the "drive-away" price, then that sounds like a pretty good deal to me on a new car.

according to msn.autos.com, the base price is $36,500, and the options you mentioned total to $4,500. Tack on a destination charge of $865, and the suggested retail price is $41,415. Their invoice (according to cars.com) is $38,068.

but I would ask for their invoice just to be sure.

Once the delivery and documentation fees are added, the price would be $37646.15. The only other costs would be for a warranty package and they offer a "clear bra" to prevent rock chips. I'm still waiting on information about those prices.

Thanks for the advice on this guys. I've never bought a new car before. I love this car, but committing this kind of money for a car is hard....so I want to make sure I get the best deal possible.

I don't think you'll need the warranty package, as it comes standard with a very good one.

I suggest that you look at used cars first.pros of buying used include:1.) cars depreciate in value the most during the first 3-5 years, let the previous owner take the hit2.) whatever problems the car could have prior to 30k miles would have been addressed by the previous owner3.) regarding MPG, there is usally a "break-in" period of several thousand miles whereby your MPG is really low and does not achieve the levels that they claim until later4.) they cost less!

cons of buying used:1.) you don't get that "New" car smell2.) you cannot "build" your own options (although you can find a car that closely resembles what you want).3.) prior history may be uncertain - so get a carfax and extended warranty

hope this helps.

Thanks again everyone...I took the plunge and bought a 2010 G37x sedan, black/black with aluminum trim and the Premium, Navigation and Premium Wheel/Tire packages as well as the illuminated kick plates. I also added the clear bra and extended warranty. I took a similar model for my second test drive this morning and just love this car.

I'm supposed to get it next weekend, and will try to get some pictures posted shortly thereafter. Thanks again for the VPP help and the advice. I'm glad I found this board.
