As some of you know my car was recently hit by my neighbor. Lucky for me I did all the body work on my car. So I know how to fiberglass, paint, bondo, etc. I need a new door, which then needs to be painted, fiberglass the cracked side skirt and then paint that too.

I called up my state farm agent and he said they would probably give me 50 cents on the dollar if I just took the check. Otherwise they would write the full amound out to what ever body shop I chose. I was quite pissed at this moment. So today I drove out to a state farm location to have them write a estimate and write me a check. On my way there though my front driver side wheel started rubbing my coilover spring like crazy. I jacked the car up the spun the spring so the rim would sit right in between the 2 coils. Then it started to do it again about 5 min. later. Except this time way worse. It was so humiliating, sitting in the middle of the street, trying to move but the screeching was so loud! I finally got in a parking lot and put my spare on. I also raised coilover ring so my front bumper wouldnt be dragging on the ground. I finally got to the state farm place and to my suprise they wrote me out a $775 check. Now I know a shop would charge more than this. And they said if the shop needs more they'll send the shop more money. but im doing it myself. A doors going to run me about $25, I have fiberglass for the skirt, and I have some paint but ill need a bit more for about $75. So I make about $675. While I'm at it im going to be painting my spoiler also.

heres a pic of the spring. you can see the spots were it rubbed. I did accidentally flip the spring around, but that shouldnt matter because it did it on both sides as you can see

I'll probably end up getting some small spacers so they clear. My fronts dont sit how I want them to anyway

sorry guys i forgot to add that picture. As for why it was rubbing i dont know. The other side is fine, still very close. But it doesnt rub.

o and about the bumper sag. I've tried for hours to get that thing to fit right. It just doesnt budge. I might try again someday soon. Other wise i might just build up some fiberglass on that spot, re paint it, and then it would fit better. Not like fiberglassing it the the fender. Just building the wall a little higher

My wheel did that same thing on the same side just not that bad lol. I also adjust the coil, my suspension is tight with a bad wheel bearing but doubt that would cause it. No clue why it rubbed I just got spacers.

well i found out why its doing it. the guy i bought my coils from slit the holes so he could have mad camber. and the bolts wont hold in the furthest out position. They want to slide in.

Its funny because i was going to name this thread "why jesus puts bad things in our lives" and then go on about how it always works out good. well today i thought i fixed my problem. I moved the bolts out and realigned it. Then tightened the hell out of em and took it for a test drive. Stupid me i just jumped in the car and took off, leaving all my tools, jacks, spare tire and my t-shirt behind. Well I drift around a corner and BAM it slides and rubs the coil again. shiiit. So i pulled into the nearest driveway to find somelady there. I asked if it would be okay if i ran home, got my stuff and then put my spare on. She didnt live there but she knew the people who did so she said it was fine. So I had to run home a mile or 2 and drive back. While I was working the son who lived there came out and was talking to me. turns out hes into cars too. Not a ton but he was interested asking me tons of questions. He was like 20 or so. Then his sister comes home who looked about 19 or 20 and walks up to me, introduces herself and shakes my hand. This really suprised me considering she knew my hands were filthy from working on the car. She asks me if i know her and im like "uhh no, im just having some car trouble." so she says she really likes my car and asks me if i restore cars. I said i guess you could say that and she asks me to work on her civic. Its a 2009 so i was like well it looks pretty nice already. And she was like" well then ill buy an old one" then she asked me for my business card and i was uhhh..im only 16. And she was like" oh..well it was nice to meet you then" haha it was pretty interesting. The family was super nice though. I told the son I'd come back and buff out some scratches on his rear bumper of his Altima from it being hit.

anyyyway...enough of my babbling. to fix my coil issue ill probably get small spacers. I could have the coil slit welded but for the price it wouldnt really be worth it.
