That it does. I could give a rats *** about 2mpg. My car sounds good at 5.5k thats what matters to me.

If you want a CAI, opt for a TRUE cai. But I dont think they make them for 5th gens

Hi I'm new here and new to the Maxima world but not to tuning, had a 2001 3.0 Accord Coupe before I bought my Maxima a couple days ago. I'll tread lightly, but I can't see how what you're saying is true? They really don't make a CAI for 5th gens?

Surely not...

From what I know in the Honda world, CAI's are a waste of money IF you have a stock exhaust. If you have a performance catback that flows freer you can see moderate hp gains with a CAI. Nothing earth shattering, but a step in the right direction. Now SRI's can actually reduce hp, because you're just sucking in hot engine air.

Is that true in the Maxima world?

OEM>CAI>WAI

Even with exhaust OEM is still the best. Just run a good filter such as K&N

CAI and WAI both decrease the FWHP, unless you are runnin FI

Just a reminder, if you have CAI, better not drive on flooded streets as you run the risk of hydrolocking the engine..

You should not be driving into deep water regardless. I had no issues with my Injen other than what a pain in the azz it was to swap or clean the filter. Sounded louder but did nothing from a performance or mpg perspective.
