My fellow coupe owners.. i stand before you today with very sad and remorseful over the recent events that took place. I have traded in the altima... yes i know its sad but u know what it was the right decision for me at the right time. i had recently just paid it off and was looking for an "upgrade" so i got me a 2006 VW Jetta GLI 2.0t w/dsg. hehe i gotta admit i shouldve made this purchase a long time ago. but i got a good deal on one that is fully loaded and well im enjoying it. However i still give the ole coupe a look from time to time when i see them on the street. and i think about all the good times i had in mine. it was a great car and was built by a great company and i loved looking at in the morning before i got in it and drove to work. and when id get out of it at work id always look back at it until i couldnt see it anymore. it was an amazing looking car. for its price i gotta admit. anyways ive decided to compile a list of pros and cons about what i liked and disliked. so here it goes:

2008 Nissan Altima coupe 2.5s w/cvt

PROS:1.) The cvt really isnt as bad as everyone thinks. it was a very fun transmission on a twisty road. the downshifts were perfect and quick and the car took it well. I drove this way everyday for 25000 miles straight haha.

2.) the looks were a definite plus and was always a head turner.

3.) the gauges were well placed and looked amazing at night.

4.) the clothe seats were pretty comfy and made the car a good long distance car. aka a "GT" car

5.) the OEM headlights looked nice especially at night with XENON eyes 6000k HID KIT haha had to throw that in.

6.) the lower rear bumper where the exhausts are looked really nice on a silver coupe.

7.) the car had some amazing lines. but at the same time it does look kinda awkward at certain angles.

8.) Gas mileage on the HIGHWAY small car BIG TANK and 33mpg haha

CONS:

1.) The 2.5 engine...now now now im not gonna say i shouldve bought a 3.5 cuz i thought the 2.5 fit better with the cvt. i thought it shouldve had the same power as the SPEC V engine with 200... i thought it couldve helped the car alot.

2.) The Body roll...sucks

3.) the interior kinda starts to fall apart after 10000 miles.

4.) that rattle u got when u were a week into owning the car and never goes away. even after the dealer looks at it.

5.) the rear seat leg room and head room. not gonna lie its kinda tight...

6.) the governer cmon 114??? i had a mercury mariner that went faster than that.

7.) the wheel options arent really good.

8.) infact the whole options list sucks there is no... uniqueness in it. where u can kinda make your own car with options.

9.) the gas mileage in town....kinda burns gas with the cvt....im gonna get s*** for that i know.

10.) the Trunk floor is too high up in the cabin.

Theres my list of things i liked and didnt like and i bet alot of you will agree and disagree but i will leave u with some pics for u to comment on and talk about id like to know what everyone though of my coupe...good and bad.

also wanted to tell nico keep up the good work.

Possible dibs on the NismoandPossible dibs on the Fujita

Sorry to see another coupe gone, however when I purchased my car it was between the A/C and the VW GTI. I didn't get the GTI for multiple reasons but I'm happy for your purchase. I grew up in a VW-run family so it's in my blood to love that car

have fun

I've driven my friend's 2007 Jetta 2.0T 6-speed, so much fun! He's gotten the chip on it too and it's amazing what a chip can do to your car...

I was into the VW scene from the ages of 16-19. i have a 98 Jetta VR6 with a stage 3 turbo done by C2 Motorsports. The car is fun, but not at fun as my A/C. I've taken the car to the auto cross, canyon runs, quarter mile ect. you name it, but I have lost interest in the car. It's done as a project in general. After the MK4 models VW lost it's exterior design concept and made cars look nothing appealing. I'm not saying I have the best looking VW out there, but they could have gone toward a better design. More respects to you and your desicion on what you did. Nice looking car it's just not my cup of tea.

1 - yea, the 2.5 sucks.

2 - body roll isn't too bad, but the 2.5 springs aren't great (im guessing a sway bar, strut bar and eibach's didn;t do it for you?)

3 - Erm....falling apart? How so? Mine looks better than the day I bought it, and I have 15k miles....

4 - rattle can be annoying - you kinda have to fix that one on your own - not right, but it can be fixed

5 - it's a coupe....what did you expect?

6 - where are you doing 114 with the 2.5? you can't even really get it up to that fast on the track, unless your dragging...

7 - there are an endless supply of aftermarket wheels to choose from...i don't see where the "wheel selection" is any different from any other car in the world...

8 - the car is like 1.5 years old...it's not a 99' civic...give it some time...

9 - erm, don't floor it in town? I get 23 mpg's with a V6 driving through town...

10 - it's a coupe - again what did you expect?

Overall I'd say you downgraded to a car that will mechanically fail you early on - interiors on VW's are nicer than the Altima (in terms of quality of materials), but overall I don't really see this move as an upgrade...not to mention the money lost out on the deal.

Just my .02...Good luck with the VW

i just personally hate volkswagons ... thats a huge downgrade in my book .. if you wanted something fast you should have went with 3.5, but to each their own, good luck with that.

Depends, if you are a VW fan boy who thinks that VWs are superior to every car ever created, then your a douche bag, and there are plenty of guys like that. You know, the kind who think adding a new bumper to their VW adds 15 hp and drive around a 80s some golf and act like its a sports car!

Good news is the op doesnt seem like that at all.

all im gonna say id rather be driving my jetta now rather than my old altima. its faster more comfortable more practical gets the same gas mileage kinda... and is just as good looking in my opinion atleast....not that, that matters of course.

I love VWs to death. I'm not a ricer kid though, I don't think they are superior to every other car. I just love the build of them, they are always really comfortable, super reliable, enough power, and affordable. Great purchase in my book.

I just like my Alti better :D
