With cincy you're not too far from me so I know your roads have the occasional salt, inspect the underbody, windshield frame and bottom under the rear doors thouroughly, I had surface rust, or what I thought to be surface rust about 6 mos ago and now I have holes. Maintenance records are a definate plus, if the timing belt has never been changed, you're walking into a ticking time bomb @186k. Regular oil changes, transmission service, and such are a plus too. Interior condition is another factor. Also inspect front suspension and tie rods, strut bushings, etc.

Right now in the condition my car is in, with the rust, front fender damage, and milage. I'm not expecting to get over $500-$1000, maybe $1500 if I'm lucky and they are mechanically inclined and know what a J30 is, even from a private individual.

Its a 94 J30T Class with 185,500 on the miles. The transmission has already been replaced with one that has 70k miles...maybe a lil' more lil' less. Now is it a good buy?

Only other known issues:it seems that all door trims need to be replace.no radio.no antenna.the rear passenger floor is wet (no other place seems to be holding water.)condensation in left headlamp.ingnition switch has already been replaced

Updates as they come.......

You still didn't put the price. How is anyone supposed to give an opinion without that? Duh! You also didn't mention how it drives, does it make strange noises, how was it maintained, etc. And how did the back get wet? Was it flood damaged, or does the sunroof leak or the windows, or did someone just accidentally spill something. If it has been constantly wet for a while its probably moldy and rusty. So for $500 its probably a good buy because you could part it out for more than that. For $3000 it wouldn't be a good buy as from what you describe the owner didn't take care of it.

Overall price out the door is 1500. As far as the wet floor don't know where its coming from that spot seems to be the only spot wet. The sunroof perfectly....back, forward, tilt its all good.

However the door trim is really mangled back there and as I said before ther are no other signs of rust or mold.

The ride is really smooth...its just floats and as far as the previous owner it was stolen, found then junked by the insurance company. But now its been rescued and almost restored.

I'd offer $1000 and see if they bite.

is the antenna completely missing?

that could be the source of the water?
