Short Story:

I'm looking for well written books that cover rebuilding engines like ours.

Long Story:

I've always wanted to build up a KA (been an ongoing fantasy of mine for 4 years now). I've finally gotten to a point in my life where money will permit me to by parts on a regular basis, so I want to develop a game plan to understand how to build a reliable engine, with simple NA bolt ons (Intake manifold, exhaust, cams and an .2-4 overbore). I want to take the time to clean up the engine and every last seal so that I know my KA will be good for another 300K.

I know there is a ton of information on here; trust me, I've been reading away on every component that crosses my mind, but I thought I would ask you all if you found any reading material that guided you along the process.

**EDIT**

I had even considered buying one of those "rebuild your KA" DVD's to get a better understanding of the process. If anyone has a suggestion for those it would also be appreciated.

There are a few books to read so that you can get a good understanding of naturally aspirated tuning...I always recomend the FSM for rebuilding a KA......I also recomend these books.. A.Graham Bell is an awsome author, he makes it simple to understand 4 stroke principles, and shows exampes on how easy it is to modify a 4 stroke engine.

Simple books on engine management, so that even simple people can ecu tune.

i was actaully thinking of getting that DVD to build a KA, but its pretty simple if you sit and watch someone rebuild one. Get a friend who is good with engine rebuilds and have him help you

Why do you need a book on nissan engines? If you understand rod stroke ratio'sCompression ratio'sMAPS and MAFSsquish and quenchMPFISeriously engines are all pretty basic. If you know what ratio's are you can build a KA any way you want without a "ONLY Nissan engine book".

most 4 cil. engines are close to the same in concept that you can basicly learn to rebuild from anybook..for a 4,6,8 cil...it doesent matter..as long as you plan it out in advance...and learn the basics...for advanced issues not coverd in most books..ask on the forums...but please reaserch everything...not every nugget of wisdom is worth its mass in crap..so read..read read....(SA) books are good..so is certian mags..i like D-Sport and Project car magazines...and yes..engine masters is cool too..for the build off articles:)...there is a lot to learn sire but once the basics are down and understood...it gets easy and repetitive.

i have some books on v-8s and some older stuff but nothing new. I just want to read and it would be nice if all the info pertained to things i would look at often (hence nissan). but i am for sure getting that ecu tuning book that was posted.
