Well today was a interesting day for me. Went over to a friends to detail his dads s3 and when I left my car was running awful. When I accelerated lots of smoke came out the exhaust. And it sounded like a boat does, with the on and off throatiness kinda. And when coming to a stop the exhaust made popping noises. I have no clue what the problem is. Last night my dad and I changed a fuel injector and all the spark plugs. But the car ran fine untill I left my friends so I don't think we did anything to cause this. Anyone got any ideas? I'd really apreciate it

On a lighter note I came home to some goodies. My spacers and my spoiler came. Heres a test fit of them both.

Once again. If anyone has any ideas about the engine running poor please let me know. As some of you know my car just got hit, and I need to drive it to some shops for some estimates. Thanks guys

Liking the spacers, the spoiler, not so much.
I think your car looks way cleaner without it.

As for the engine, pull the spark plug wires one at a time while the engine is running, and if you pull one that doesn't make a difference, the problem is at that cylinder.

I'd pull the injector and check to see if the o-ring is okay.
I learned that you've got to lube the heck out of it if you want it to slide in easily without ripping the o-ring.
Interesting as how replacing the injector fixed the problem for a while.
Is the injector new or used?

One of your cylinders might be burning more or less gass then the rest of them.. If that were the case then I think that the new injector that you got has its filter in a different location then the rest. Did you check the other cylinders to find out which injector to get? Or maybe you didn't push the injector in all the way.

1) ur tires are soooo close to the fender, its ganna rub over the smallest bump
2) I, ubnlike Razi, love the spoiler. Its low and sleek.. looks great I think
3) I would suspect a head gasket. What color smoke? Check coolant level and trouble codes, they mite tell you something

I personally love the spoiler. Its enough while still being clean. I'll def do the spark plug troubleshooting and then check the o ring on the new injector. My dad was the one who put it on so idk exactly what he did. And yea it doesnt make sense because it ran fine for about 20 minutes. and the injector is new btw.

I still have the cut away the lip of the fender, I think it should be fine. I'll test it buy jacking the wheel up before I go for a ride though.
I also love the spoiler. Thanks
I'll keep in mind the head gasket. The smokle was just your average smoke color. Not black or really any darker. And certainly not a different color.

I'll be sure to check this things tommorow and let you know. I appreciate all the help! Thanks

wing looks good stance looks good.
Sounds like some fuel is leaking past the oring on the injector. Easy way to test it is unbolt the fuel rail and pull it off the manifold. Turn the ignition on and let the fuel pump prime and if theres a leak you'll obviously see it spray past.
if your smoke is white and smells like fuel that's most likely your problem. I can't even tell you how many times I did this on my sr

wtf its doing it again. it wont start until like the fifth crank and i have to give it gas. Then it runs horrible, has no power, and the exhausts pops when you slow down. We just replaced the injector ring. It's so weird how it fixes the problem for one ride. And then the next day its a b**** again. any ideas?

okay so today we replaced another o ring with a oem one and now number 4 cylinder isnt running. We took out the spark plug thing while it was running and 1,2,3 all made the idle drop. But not 4. It had spark though. Then I started it and 4 started working though. But the car still wasnt running right. I still had exhaust pops when slowing down in gear, and accelerating wasnt the best either. It had short bursts of no power. So it was running, just not properly. Then I turn the car off and try to restart it. I get nothing. I have to crank it for 2-3 seconds while pumping the gas. Any ideas? I really appreciate it.

when you turn the car off and try to restart it pull the fuel pump fuse out if it does not work right off the bat. That should make it run immediately without pumping the gas.

Damn, I was gonna say you're displaying classic signs of running too rich. But I guess you figured that out alread. I had the same shiz happen to my injectors... one failed, then the next, then the next... till eventually I gave up and just got a whole new fuel rail from a junkyard car and it solved the problems haha. aftermarket OEM injectors suck nuts. Expensive bastards too. And that fuel rail only cost me $50 bucks at the junkyard injectors, fpr and all and was garunteed to work. Good deal. and nice car. but your back wheels stick out too much now IMO
