yUp i'm gonna buy an eclipse...damn i'm probably gonna have people chase me down from this forum for saying that..:(

anyways before i left to bootcamp i GAVE my girl(ex now; i broke up with her) my 240. Ya probably gonna say i'm stupid but it's just an ordinary 240 nothing special, not hook up or anything.

anyways i've always wanted to get an 99 eclipse GST/GSX. i thought about buying another 240sx, but it's gonna cost me so much just to get it turbocharged and buying the S14. If i go with S13 it's also gonna cost alot because let's face it, it's old and alot of stuff have to be fixed and replace. On the ther hand the eclipse gst already come with turbo and it's not that old.

Anyways i have no experience with eclipse, anything i should watch out for while searching for it? all i know about the eclipse is they have crank walk but that's unpreventable. Well thanks for the inputs. I went to the mitsubishi forum for some info but they're all newbies or doesn't know crap about cars, i gave them more info than getting info for myself.

Yes GSX, do it right the first time. My friend started with a GS, didn't like it and got a GS-T. Now he wants a GSX. Buy GSX the first time.

well don't you think the eclipse owners have looked into fixing the problem? I just remember people posting a fix to it.

every car has problems. Not like our 240's don't. Just look in the classifieds at all the blown up ka's and just shells for sale.

Mitsubishi manufacturing quality is just not up to par with Nissan. My first car was a Mitsubishi and I will never own another one. Despite all of the race car inspired marketting hype that surrounds Mitsubishi, the fact of the matter is that they have never had a successful factory race team. Nissan has, again and again and again. Nissan has a legacy of motorsports competition, Mitsubishi doesn't.

The GSX is a fun car, if you want something that you're just going to run into the ground and replace in a couple of years. My buddy bought one when they first came out in 93 or so, then took it straight to HKS here in LA and got all of the bolt-ons to make it wicked fast. It was a fun car to drive around in, but far from anything built to last.

I am a DSMer. i have a 92 Talon TSI FWD. they are GREAT CARS. cheap and quick stock, you just cant beat on it. the 4g63 is a very high powered and high matenince engine. if you take care of it it will run a long time. dont worry about Crankwalk, its overrated. not worth not buying the car over for. i might be picking up a 97 GSX. the Talon is going to my little brother. i would say GET IT. just look over everything every few weeks or so. and fix things asap.

240s are way more reliable, thats for sure, its a different lifestyle having a DSM. they quite literally CAN turn you into a mechanic. haha. but always FUN. i would definately get another one.

ohh yes and BTW. 2000= "eclipses" arent worth of the name. the Eclipse died in 99. and personally i perfer the look of the Talon over an Eclipse.

hmm... before coming across my 240, i was looking at a 95 GSX. the guy had put a 16g EVOIII turbo and a few other mods on it... all i can say is DAMN that thing was fast. the turbo kicked in and it set me back in my seat. it had 135k miles on it though it ran pretty well. i agree with the others; if you're going to get an eclipse, get a GSX.

I have a 96 gsx auto, cheap, so far reliable, turbo car with every upgrade under the sun available at half the cost compared to my 240, and then some.

Crankwalk is over rated btw, some thing like 4-6 percent of the cars actually walk and did so before 60k with a few acceptions, besides, jdm 4g63 long block, shipped, 500 bucks to replace entire motor, can't beat that.
