Some may remember the 89 D21 Hardbody my son and I restored a while back that's my avatar. Well my son is really too big for the truck, hes almost 6'4 at 15 and his knees were really close to the dash and he complained about his back hurting after 45 min. of driving so the search began for a bigger truck. He wanted to trade off the Hardbody but I wanted to keep it for my self (selfish reasons).

Long story short my Uncle passed away and had a 96 Chevy 2500 6.5 Turbo Diesel that needed to be sold to help pay for final expenses. We decided to get it for my son because we knew the amount of work my Uncle had put into it. The front end and transmission had been rebuilt along with new tires, brakes rebuilt and the PMD had already been relocated. New body bushings, all fluids replaced in the last 3,000 miles so we felt confident it would make a decent starter vehicle and the kid fits nicely in her too.

Here is just a few pics when we picked it up, it was really dirty here.

It has 330,000 miles and runs like a champ. I have done some research and the 6.5 Turbo had some issues and many did not make it past the 150,000 mile marl but those that have seem to hold up well. I will post up more pics when I get the time to take some more. The fuel millage isnt too bad so far we have averaged 21 mpg mixed driving.

Thanks, Son better not get much taller or I will have to get the kid a bigger bed. He has a queen size bed and to stretch out he sleeps corner to corner. Wonder what guys like Shaq do for a bed? lol

:rotfl

I have the same problem! (Also 6'4''). I take up a whole damn queen bed on my own because I have to lay diagonally. The thing that really sucks is only the oddball larger mattress sizes add length. The rest just add width. I don't want to sleep more sideways!

Ahhh, first-world problems. :chuckle:

Its funny cuz Im 6'5". I feel his pain.

That brings back memories of my freinds 'work truck'. The heat blew as hot as the surface if the sun and had a distinct noise... and smell.
