Im looking for a 18inch multispoke wheel. Could break the bank but dont really want too! Any suggestions? About to do a hub conversion so lug size is irrelevant. 93 240sx s13. Thanx in advance!

Um, powdercoating does nothing to the integrity of a wheel.

Also, the only "conversion" I'm aware of is the 5-lug, so bolt pattern IS relevant. You'll need 5x114.3.

This is not quite true. There are a number of aluminum alloys used in wheels that have been known to age harden at a temperature of 350 degrees even though the official anneal temp is upwards of 600. Then creating a weak annealed casting, prone to cracking. It has been seen many times in the powder coating industry. Even with saying that, very few powder coaters will turn away aluminum wheels.

With that being the case, those are wheels I would NEVER use on a car.

Considering the temperatures that brake rotors reach (I know, I've turned a set of gold Brembo calipers purple before), and the wheel is a "heat sink" for the rotor, it's not hard to imagine them seeing temps upwards of 350 degrees (at least occasionally, and only at the hub).

However, now that you mention it, I do recall a conversation with someone from HRE about this topic... and their position was "No way."

In light of that, I take back what I said - Paint alloy wheels, don't take the chance on powdercoating them.

OP, what is your wheel budget? Are you looking for concave wheels or deep dish?
