gold top/silver top?

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

I was talking with a friend that has a 89 with a 95 Engine and transmission in it today, and we both noticed that the valve cover on his was silver and mine is gold. I own a 91 SE Fastback. Any information about the differences would help, thanks.

S14 KA motors have a different valve cover and they are silver in color...

S13 KA motors have a gold valve cover.

The only major difference int he heads are the cams...the head casting is different, but the valves/ports are the same size.
