Post

I've been looking for a previously owned coupe for the better part of the past 6 months. I've test driven a couple of them, but didn't buy either because I really wanted to find a black one...I just think the G looks the best in black. I found this one and went to take a look at it today (dealership was closed). The car is an '04 with 23k on it; auto transmission. Local Infiniti dealer is asking 22,900.

The car really looked to be in fantastic condition...no scratches, dings.

Is there anything that is specific to the G that I should keep in mind during my test drive? Does anyone have any insight on workiing with Infiniti reps?

Thanks as always!

I hear you...I've bounced back and forth between auto and manual trans cars for awhile...currently driving a car with a 6MT. I'm not really married to either type.

Black is the best.... But if you get an 03-04 you need the 6mt with the sport package.... Brembo brakes

But i would go with a 05 or newer... The got the bugs out by then

just so you know...i saw an 05 with 29K for around $20,000

It was black on black, 6MT...

but that was a couple months ago. I haven't looked around since then.

If you go with an '04, make sure it has the BREMBO brakes

otherwise, i'd say 05+

This is parked right next to the black '04. It's an '05 with 23k, and they're asking $23,900; auto trans.

I guess I'll have to drive them both...Not a bad way to start out the week!

The 04 is a better deal... That 05 is way overpriced.

Ignore anyone who says to stay away from 03-04 6MT I feel is wrong as long as you have a warranty.

And this is the reason why, since the 6mt transmission issue is known by Infiniti it's VERY easy to get them to replace the transmission under warranty. If you feel the slightest grind just take it in and tell them you're having and issue with the transmission grinding. They will take it for a test drive and get you a new 2007 transmission (with 0 miles!) under warranty (they can usually include the clutch for free)

That's what I did

the 05 has 17s and comes in the most played out g35 color ever. the 04 is better. id try to find one withe the wing on the back, imo the 03-04 wing is the sickest one on the g coupes to date.

fyi in march 2007 i bought a cpo 04 coupe with 36,000k with areo kit, sports package and bose for 24,500 from the dealer. he also replaced my calipers.

Just curious. $22,900 for an 04 and $23,900 for an 05, and the 05 is overpriced? Am I missing something here or is the auto transmission that much of a deduct?

Check around... you can find 05 - 06 Autos for 17 - 20K

My 2003 6MT is only worth about 15k now.. The price dropped a LOT with the release of the G37.. I think it will go back up a bit or level out once you get rid of the "Upgrade to G37" sales.

You really have to drive a 6 speed & then drive an automatic to understand. The handling, cornering, & overall performance is far superior with the 6 speed. In bad weather having the ability to downshift rather than applying brakes can assist in accident avoidance. In addition, the 6 speed gets better MPG and the brakes will last much longer resulting in lower maintenance costs. The sport suspension is also far superior along with 18" wheels & tires.

Again, just my opinion & my $.02

Hey everyone, I bought the black '04 this afternoon. Dealer gave me good money for my Si and came down $500 on the G so I did the deal. A woman was coming in to the dealership tonight to buy the silver '05.

The car is in pristine condition...exterior and interior. What a beast!! Power is on tap whenever you want it. I love this thing! I don't really mind not having a 6MT anymore...the manual override is pretty cool...I'll probably use it more than I originally thought. With regard to the spoiler, I thought I would really want it, but I think the car looks fantastic without it as well. Just a beautiful vehicle.

Thanks for all of the insight...I really appreciate it. I'm looking forward to learning more about my "new" G from everyone here.

BTW...where the hell are the sideview mirror controls???

Congrats. It is a great looking car.

I love the 5AT too. You can use the manual option, or leave it in auto. It revmatches on downshifting and leaves both hands for the steering wheel. Of course, you don't have a clutch pedal for your left foot, so it has to rest comfortably on the side.

Sorry telcoman, here is one where I disagree with you.

Under the steering wheel to the left.

Congrats!!!!

We all have opinions on this board.

I believe that the auto transmission is much safer for you in inclement weather.

I've driven the manual and the auto G's. Personally, I would prefer to have one of each!!! But, if I can't I'll take the auto.People tend to believe that whatever they currently have is the best. It helps them to justify....what they have.

BUT CONGRATS!!!!! Let's start spending that extra income on MODS!!!! Who needs a 401k anyway!!!

Thanks, I got a taste of "inclement weather" this morning. It never fails...I buy a "new" car one day and the next day it snows!

My normal 15-minute commute took 45 this morning...but I still didn't want to get of the car!!! . The G coupes have always turned my head, and now I have one!! So glad I waited to find it in black!

The only reason the 6mt has better handling is because off the bat, the some with the sports tuned suspension...

But I have to agree. Manual transmission are more fun then Autos. Just make sure you won't regret purchasing an AUTO.

A lot of people have regretted, some people even tried to converet their AUTO to a MANUAL.. (Waste of money).

You will never hear or see a thread about Converting a 6mt to an Auto..

And please, no stupid excuses about traffic and cramps... I never get cramps driving a 6mt, cause ur always moving.. You only get cramps driving an auto..
