Let me know what you guys think

______________________________________________________________________________________

So i never really took notice to what the stuff was when SBK03 did his grill and other things.

Past 2 days i actually looked up a ton of stuff about it, and how cheap it is also.

I've come to conclusion you can do wonders with this stuff, and still keep original finishes underneath perfect.

This website has a ton of videos of what you can do, http://www.dipyourcar.com

You can even do your whole car in the stuff for like a 100 bucks, and it looks like any other flat black paint or wrap. You can also get a glossifer they sell to make the black gloss.

They also sell, red and white which you can gloss also. And i think 3 metalizer kits which you put the black down first, then you can make it gold metallic, silver metallic or gunmetal.

Im going to do my 20" wheels tommorrow or friday, and i will probably use glossifer on them also, dont know how good the flat black would look with the pathfinder, but i think the gloss black will look pretty sick. Then when i dont want it anymore i just peel it off and back is my chrome :) .

Also im going to do my window trim, im sure many of you also have the certain parts of it are greyed out.

If this stuff holds up like many people have been saying it does, you guys can most likely expect a matte black pathfinder with matte black rims all murdered out by the summer  .

The stuff is junk, comes off/peels off with simple garden hose pressure

Want to clean your tires sidewalls with a stiff bristle brush?? It tears the plastidip off, putting your lugnuts on, if you tear it, your screwed. Once you tear a little place it just all starts coming up from that point

Expect to have to do it every month

Meh... I've done some plastidippin' of my own.

It holds up decently, but it will start chipping. It also looks a bit cheap on larger projects. Small items like badges are probably what its best used for.

But the "glossifier" sounds nice. I'll have to look into that.

Ultimately I say its worth it, because it does peel off easily and does not damage whatever it is that you're spraying. However, if you do like the look, you'll likely end up wanting to get them painted for real.

My $0.02...

Yeah for the price i think its well worth it for testing how things will look, etc cause you dont ruin the original finish. Im going to start on my 20s tonight, if i like flat ill keep it if not i will try the glossifer on top.

I will also be ordering some plasti dip tomorrow, gonna re shoot the grill, emblems, wheels, and doing some work on my buddies 2007 Ml350, going to do the grill, rear emblem, some debadging, lowering, speaking of which, if anyone in the greater Seattle area is looking for some stock, ml350 wheels, he'll have some on craigslist here in a few days, shoot me a PM if anyone is interested, long shot i know.

I will take some pics of how it turns out if anyone is interested.

1) Good for you miamiheat! Looks good. I love flat black on wheels, just so alluring. Your wheels look amazing. Considered doing the grills and emblems to match the look? I guess I am an anti-chrome advocate. Lol.
1a) I'm interested in painting the entire car too. However, in NY you have to report the change of color and I didn't wanna deal with the hassle. If you beat me to it, I will be next in line!
2) I'm actually going to get the metallizers. I'm gonna try the platinum graphite look on the wheels. I want to trade with someone for some 17" LEs. If anyone is up for it, no nicks or scratches on my wheels!
3) CanuckQX4, my project was done at least 6 months ago, definitely more (check the date of the post). Everything is still perfectly intact. I've had several car washes with high pressure washes and full wipedowns. It's survived Northeastern snow and salt and all that jazz. None of the applications have peeled one bit. The key is several, even coats and you will have a durable finish.

Of course, I bought new tires after the application in addition to a flat tire. Thus, I did have SLIGHT peeling on some edges of two wheels due to the power tools used. Mind you, this peeling was so miniscule I did not bother the quick respray for months. I have since resprayed the edges. You do not even need to respray the whole wheel. You can do the edge and everything appears seamless.

If I can peel it up with my fingernail and two fingers.... I doubt it

Looks good though, I prefer the style wheel you have in chrome as you had it still though

Well i started on this about 740-750pm last night, steamed the 4 of them and wiped down with a microfiber, then started painting, i also had a propane heater going in the garage close to them. I took the center cap allen bolt off very carefully on each one probably like 1045, and was done taking the old ones off and putting these on about 11:10-11:15pm. Not long at all.

Also to anyone wondering how its holding up, today at about 7pm it was pouring rain when i went to the gym, same when i got out, and also later when i was out. Holds up fine, will see how dirty they are tommorow vs my chrome. I know my chrome after 1 rain they would be fogged up and dirty.

Woopee, let's make a Plasti-Dip subforum haha. This stuff really is amazing, I don't understand why some people knock it without trying it. If only that analogy worked with drugs too. I kid, I kid :nono: .

That QX4: If that's not the same one that was linked on my thread then that's the second one I've seen. I want to try it!
edit: It's different, this one has better pictures:

Check out the metallizers too!
Anyone know how bronzed wheels would look on a Merlot Pathfinder?

Ordering some plastidip for my rims. I decided to keep the wheels on like the guy did in the video and just cover my brakes in tape hopefully it works out. Will they hold up in the car wash? Or should i just self wash them carefully

pathfinder 3.5: Looks very nice

04LEMASS: I think it would be easier and more comfortable to take out the wheel as miamiheat did. About the car wash i am not sure. Hopefully they will :|

Eh, i wouldnt take mine to the carwash. At least around me, theres one medium powered one, and another one where in like 3 spots i always have to reapply the touch up paint cause it annihilates it, ridiculous power. With the plasti dip im just hand washing it like i used too.
