Hi all, I'm going to look at a 1996 Maxima with 160k miles tomorrow. What should I look for, anything in particular? The car has really high miles, anything I should check for there, apart from the receipts?

Its the std version with no power/leather, and he's asking $3200 for it. Would that be a fair price for it?

I've been looking for a nice quiet luxury cruiser for a while now and I don't know much about the Maximas - what do you dislike about your cars? Any quirks that I should be aware of before buying? Should I even be looking at such a high mileage example if I want reliability?

Thanks!

That's a great price. As long as it has a clean car-fax report, and the maintenance has been kept up, it's a lock. If you plan on keeping this car for a period of years; I'd try to find something with less miles, even if you have to pay a bit more.

What's up Mark? I own a 96 max myself. I bought it with 101k and now have 155k. The only problems I had was at 140k my alternator went, (you can have this check with a volt meter yourself or go to advance autoparts or a such store), and at 150K my noc sensor went but that was because of my injen air intake system i had installed. My other car is a 1994 maxima with 267k and I never had a problem except for the clutch at 220k. The SE and the GLE are not limited. If you have a mechanic you go to, take the car there and lift it up to check the main seals for any leaks. That becomes an issue with the VQ if not maintained. I hope this helped. richie04zo (Richard Randall)
