So the motor (SR20DET) is installed - thanks for Mckinney for the Motor mounts - and now it is time to build an exhaust. I decided on running a 3" straight pipe and am planning on having it come out before the rear wheel (left side). I am not sure if anyone has done this before, but can anyone here see any issues I may run into when building the exhaust? Also, can anyone think of any con's reguarding running a side exhaust (apart from the noise and black soot on side of car.)

Im doing this for a couple reasons:

1. Side exhausts are mean looking2. I want to run a 3" straight pipe3. I dont care to run it under or over the rear suspension4. I like to play with my welder

Thanks all, I will photo document the event and be sure to post them up for your viewing pleasure.

in what chassis? the S30 leaves little room for exhaust, and trying to pipe a 3" out the side is gonna get smashed by speedbumps

I ran my single 3" exhaust back to the pinion mount and out a downturn on it, the IRS actually had a notch in the pinion mount so routing exhaust really isn't an issue, in stock form it just goes straight back beneath everything, then turns at the rear fo the diff, angles up and turns to the side, the straight out the back which is where the muffler sits, it's really not intrusive

and 3" exhaust is huge, what kind ofpower you plan on making?

well its stock right now - but I am looking to build a soild 400. Anything more would be too crazy IMO, especially with how light the SR is.

the SR is only about 50 lbs lighter than the L24 IIRC

for only 400 h 2.5" should be large enough and cheaper and easier to route
