Ok, I have the chance to pick up a CA motorset from a friend of mine this week. He has ditched his CA project and wants to do something else. He couldn't get the motor to turn over, but he suspects it to be either his wiring, bad ground(s), or a bad starter. I would be getting the whole motorset which has an SR T25 on it, and an extra head. I would be getting it pretty cheap. Cheap as in about the cost of an Apex N1 catback. Is there anything in particular I should keep an eye out for? The fact that I would be getting it at that price makes me really not care about why it won't start... I just want to know if there is something maybe I should look out for... I would be doing an overhaul on the motor anyway in terms of bearings, seals, gaskets, timing stuff, etc... Any thoughts on this?

does the starter relay work?

the wiring could be it, just check for the orange wire underneath the dash for it to be spliced up. mainly the wiring near the battery is for fuses, and if it asnt firing i would suspect that.

if you hear the starter realy clicking, i might have a solution. is your friend using the ka lower harness?let me know anout those little things and ill tell you my solution if need be.

He SHOULD be using the lower harness from the KA. But yes, he said it would just click rapidly when trying to start it.

I am going to redo the whole harness seeing as the motor will be hanging out for a while. Plus, I have nothing else to do with my time during the day. So I am going to reinsulate everything, reloom it and label every plug.

haha the sma e thinfg happened to me lol

well, the ca and ka use different types of starters ina way, they both have the large ring terminal that i bleieve comes fromt he bettery, the 3rd one goes into itself, then there is the almght second one, this is not a ground, some pepole say ity is but it is really not, i promise you.

to wire , well correctly wire, the ca starter using the ka lower harness you need to cut the clip off a ka starter, then go to your lower harneess and find what plug it plugs into. then, with the part of the wire that was cut off the ka peice, just crimp on one of those connectors you can get at the autostore, there not the ring termianlsb utthere are the ones that sliode onto them, then just plug that onto the last slot and it will fire up!!!

let me know if this is clear to you, its hard to describe over the internet lol.
