So uhh. . I want to get a complete package from 4x4parts.

http://www.4x4parts.com/public...c8db8

Question is, I know my QX4 is a 99.5, but does it really matter? Why do they have a 96-99 and a 99.5 - 04? What's the difference? Would a 99.5 QX4 qualify for the 99.5 Pathfinder stuff?

I'm confused.

I would be confused too if they were selling parts for a '96 QX4 and an '04 QX4 considering it was introduced in '97 and discontinued in '03! But honestly though i don't know why they would have 97-99.5 because the body was the same till '00. (I also have a 99.5) I know they changed the 4-wheel drive in 99.5 but other than that i'm not familiar with any other major changes.

the 99.5 is different from the 99. The speedometer is different (the font of the numbers.) Transfer case different. (lever vs. switch) Shape of the steering wheel is way different. 96-99 headlights have a smoked housing, while 99.5+ have clear housing Front brake rotors are a different diameter But the suspension is the same... 96-98 have a different rear shock setup than 99+ but the springs are the same from 96-04

and in my opinion, the speedometer / steering wheel on the 96-99 is hideous looking. It looks ancient. I love my 99.5

I agree. . I love all of the changes between 99 and 99.5. I also prefer the VG over VQ, so it's a nice blend even tho you get even more crap with VQ powered vehicles

Anyway, I didn't think the susp. was different but thought I orta confirm.

Thanks Gs!

Good call, girl! Not too many chicks who can get down on the technical... Yea, there was no 96 QX4 in North America, but there was a 1996 Nissan terrano regulus in Japan, it's the same thing. 2 engine choices: QD32ETi turbo diesel, or VG33E V6 gas engine

Another fun fact. . the Regulus was actually created to be a QX4 for the North American market. Makes me feel sort of special -- just wish we had that diesel here.

The only difference in those packages is the length of the rear shocks because the mounting is different. I just replaced my worn out steering wheel with a new one i love it cause theres texture on it! Also replaced my shifter assembly because the letters and numbers were all broken and cracked.

I can't decide if I prefer the 97-99 tint or not. . I used to really dig that stuff.

I had it down to the point where I could tell every mundane detail between the 240sx, 200sx, and Silvia. . :oso I sold it.
