This isn't an ad for selling my car just wanted to get feedback so please don't move it thinking it's a for sale thread :D.

Anyways, Sometime within the next few months I will be selling my '92 240sx hatch w/ S13 redtop in it and I was looking to get an opinion on what folks would consider as a decent price tag. I was going to throw it up on auto trader for a little while with a price tag of 10k with the stock rims, stock tails, and no boost controller and if it didn't sell after a while throw it up there on ebay with a 10k reserve and try there. A friend of mine wanted to buy it for 11 but wanted the rims, 180 tails, and controller with it. I don't really want to sell the 180sx tails I have because I got em from a site that sold em for like 450ish shipped and cheapest you can find now is around 550 or so before shipping (unless you look really hard of course, there are exceptions). I countered his offer with 9k for the car with rims, and all, and his '90 240 coupe. But he also says he won't be able to buy it until June.

I'll post a mod list below. Basically I'm lookin for your guys opinion on a good price to sell it for because I don't want to rip people off but I don't want to get ripped off. Yes it's cheaper to do it yourself these days in some respects but I ended up paying around 15k for all the stuff in it (got ripped on the car and had a bare bones engine so had to get most parts seperate). My friend said the 9k and 240 coupe was an awesome deal because i am looking to start another 240 project just really wanted to keep the hatch because I didn't really like the coupes all to much but I can see the ups of having a coupe. here's the list below of the mods done to the car:

Well first off, welcome to the boards!!! I am also from Cinci, NKY to be exact!!

To answer your question...I am not sure to give exact price, haven't dealt with many sr20's for sale, I would have to see in person to be able to give my honest opinion.

What is your next project gonna be?? I found a s14 se for sale in our area for only $4400 bucks, look at our bull/sell/trade forums and look for the 96 SE for sale posted by TONYVQ.

If you ever want to meet up in Cinci, email me..... [email protected]

Again, welcome to the boards!!

Getting another S13 and taking it to Dauntless for an S15 engine swap. If i get the coupe I'll also have him do the S13 front end conversion because it just doesn't look right w/ flip up lights on a coupe hehe (imo).

I am no expert, but I would think that even $9k would be too much. Don't expect to get much back through mods, you won't. Assuming your car is in absolute mint condition (and I can't really tell without looking at it either), you might be able to get $6-8k for it, but any more is really too much. If you can find a buyer who wants it for more, sell it! :)But your car is still 11 years old with a $3000 engine swap and a a few extra mods. It sounds a lot less glorious that way though...

Remember, I am by no means an expert on price, I just would never go over $6k on that car from what I hear from you. I am picky though... I've seen them go much higher (around $8k a few times, not sure about more). I don't know what you've really done to the car without seeing it either, so factor that it :)

Oh, and your new project sounds excellent:D

asking $10k isn't unreasonable depending on the condition of the body. The SR's are a very desirable motor and now that it looks like they are getting harder to come by, more people will be willing to pay more for one.

as for the mods, most people will tell you that mods wont increase the value of the car, but that's BS. You can always find someone who will pay more because the car has mods especially the ones that you have done. best bet, put the car on EBAY with the $10k reserve and see what happens from there. also post it on autotrader or a similar site and dont forget about the NICO classified section. hope this helps:)

like I said, I'm not expert :D

as Silvia Tuner said, you can probably find a buyer for that much, but its awfully high to me... how much did you put into the car?

I would have to agree with $6k-8k, probably around $7500. That's what I've seen them go for on Freshalloy and ebay. That's with everything BTW. This is just my opinion BTW and partially my experience with this matter. You are getting a deal @ $9k.

But who knows, if you hold out long enough someone is bound to pay $10k, but the majority won't IMHO.

I've seen 240's with much longer lists of mods (not saying sil80's isn't nice), and in relatively good condition go for 6-7k, maybe a bit more (usually on ebay, couple in this area, even one in the classifieds). One of the reasons you might not be able to charge as much is that the buyer might not know enough to appericiate the value of all the parts you've put, making them less likely to pay that much. And the car is over a decade old, I've got a 97' civic which cost 12k when we bought it, with over 6k in mods, less than 50k on the odometer, and with maintenance performed religiously, I would be lucky to get 8-10k, just saying that sometimes ya gotta take what you can get. Best of luck in finding a buyer!

Yea I've seen more go for less but more often than not I've seen less go for more. I've seen completely stock setups and the ****tiest paintjob go for like 12k on ebay. I'd be happy with about 8k. I just need enough to get another 240 for cheap and do the S15 swap from After Dark. I'd just like 9-10. And I know I wont get anywhere near what I put in it thus why I priced 10 which is like 1/2-2/3 ish of what I put into it. Oh well we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the info
