Theres a local airport here where they hold drift comp. and autocross events. I just found out about it and im trying to make plans to take the vert. However its my first time and I would like some advice and sugestions so i dont look like the only 36yr old noob out there . so im trying to find out from them if they will have loaner helmets available and will I need a rollbar to run the car or just have the top up. I dont expect to do good at all because of the xtra weight and my inexperience but I just want to get it out of my system. so any advice or tips would be great. thanks guys!!!

They should have helmets there for loaners, but I always bring my own. Here is a check list.

What To Bring..A cooler with water and LUNCH! I forgot this at one event and it suuucked. Here's the list from the Novice Handbook.

-Your SCCA membership card, to get a discount on entry fees-A safety helmet-Extra air in your tires. Stop at a gas station and fill your tires to approximately 45psi-Front/35psi-Rear for a front-wheel-drive car, or 40psi all around for a rear-wheel-drive car.-Suitable shoes for driving. The best are light-soled, with a narrow sole which does not stick out past the side of the shoe-Sunglasses-Sunscreen (a must, I got burned as hell at the last event)-Clothes appropriate for the weather forecast, plus a change for when the forecast is wrong.-Rain gear / umbrella-A hat-A folding chair-Thermos of water or other non alcoholic beverage-Cooler for lunch or snacks-Windex and paper towels-A pad and pencil to write down all the advice you'll get-A copy of the current SCCA Solo II Rule Book-A good tire pressure gauge-A portable air tank or compressor-Chalk or white shoe polish to mark the tires-Painters blue tape for numbers and class

What sizes are you running? and what class are you trying to run in? What all is done to your car? and don't leave anything out. Little things like taking the back seats out will change your class in SCCA rules.

actually you're probably in a better class like you are. You can run in the ST classes, if I'm not mistaken STX as long as you stay under a 245 tire. Thats what you should shot for, I'd look for a 40 or a 45 series. The new Toyo Proxy R1R's are developed especially for the ST classes. The tires have to be a 140 tread rating or higher and they hit 140. Look into those.
