This is kinda interesting, does anyone know for sure if shifting to N when traveling at say 40 mpg is potentially damaging for the CVT? Remember that the typical CVT "rattle" that occurs with the defective CVT is easy to identify by driving slowly in parking lot and pushing on and off the throttle gently, as you release the throttle it will always give a grinding rattle sound, if you have the problem. I definately wouldn't recommend that Rogue owners spend time doing this though, because it is a very small percentage, much less than 1% I'm sure that will have a defective transmission. Just drive the car and enjoy it. If at some point you do think you hear something unusual, then you can do the test I described, and bear in mind if you have the problem it will get louder over time so there isn't any need to worry, if you've got the problem you'll know and there won't be any need to do anything extreme to prove it. Just my opinion as I had my CVT replaced about 8 months ago, and everything has been great since then.
