This is killing me. I can have a BRM system scaring the bejeezus out of ricers (without the fart) and sounding smooth as silk behind me for my own pleasure AND giving a little more mid-top power. I can have that in ~2 weeks... or I can have a beautiful set of Koni Yellows wrapped in the awesomeness of H&R Sport springs in another 2-4 weeks after that (going by paydays here).

Guys, it's killing me, it really is. I want them both so bad, but I'm not sure I can have both this summer, it may have to wait til next summer for whichever one is neglected this year.

So... not a car specific question, just a "what would you do?" deal.

Also bear in mind that with the $2-400 saved with the BRM option ($525 shipped, as opposed to probably $8-900 in total damage for suspension) I could help my suspension with say some polyurethane mounts (do they make any for my car? I hear a lot about the wonders and I want to try them) and a NISMO RSB, or help out power more with pulleys and engine mounts or something (don't want headers, still deciding about the possibility of going turbo in the future).

Okay, so what would you do? Exhaust or suspension?

Do you drive on a road course alot? If not, go for the exhaust.

Nope, daily driven. I don't get to race at all at this point.

So you did suspension first and you wish you'd done exhaust first? (Trying to get my facts straight)...

Oh, and I managed to finally turn my sound up enough to hear that clip you sent me, sounds nice (cept for the fuzzy sound coming from the recording device :D).

Now my general advice is always do suspension first. But I would vote the other way, unless you are gonna put the suspension to use. If it is just a daily driver for now. The suspension will affect ride quality. Remember that as well.

Go exhaust. My $0.02.

Think it over and make your decision. Or do like I do, get drunk and throw darts at my cats. white cat, exhaust. Black cat, suspension. j/k

(i wouldnt do that. I love my kitty.)

dude, foam darts, it's what I do, though there's like 5 of the suckers running around here...

anybody want some kittens?

I'd have to go with the exhaust too. you don't have to get an alignment for exhaust:D

I'm happy with the way I did things. Suspension last year and exhaust this, but I'd say go exhaust first.

Yeah, I really don't think I'd be unhappy either way, but... I dunno, I just want whatever's going to bring me more immediate joy, it's not like I'll be going racing terribly soon (though I would if I could). Oh, and my ride is pretty bumpy already, no weight in the back + speed bumps is not pleasant.

If I had cats, I'd go for it (there are very few cats I've met that I liked), but I don't have cats.

I'm trying to find rationalization for both options and see which one the rationalization is better for, here's what I've got so far (I guess a pros list)...

Exhaust:growl (scare shiat out of ricers, and won't feel the need to crank up the stereo anymore), few extra ponies (145hp stock, throw in a little for CAI, throw in a little more for BRM, I'd like to claim 160-165chp off of those two, but I think that might be a little wishful thinking)... did I mention that awesome growl? My car sounds friggin awesome with just CAI, exhaust... well... drool... 4cyl heaven (almost, but no boost :()

Suspension:Wheel gap go BYE BYE! (most of it, anyway, depending on which setup I go with... which is REALLY up in the air at this point, cause I dunno how much I can spend), tires stop hating every day of their lives, twisties become even more fun

Feel free to add to either list...

Currently, I'm leaning toward exhaust in large part because I'm not sure if I can get JIC FLT-A1s (what I want)... and if not, what to mate with the Koni Yellows -H&R sports or GC semi-coilover system (hearing good things about this setup, believe it or not)... unless I can get a deal on those K-Sports, but that gb has ended... but that means I can hear from people who have them now, too, which is good.

Wow, I use a lot of parentheses...

Oof, I'm still wrestling with this decision a lot. Went with a couple friends to a movie tonight and whenever I picked one of them up I got out of my car and was walking up a few steps, looked over at my car and got a bad angle of the wheel gap... it just killed me... and my poor tires... jeez...

But then, after seeing some more ricers, I was wishing I could just rev a little and scare the bejeezus out of them, then lay the smack down (base Neon with wing and fart can... not much competition there)...

I'd appreciate any more commentary.

I really wouldn't do that to a cat. Now maybe the neighbors dogs, that bark all hours of the night. I may play lawn darts with them.

Go th route you can afford. Money talks.

Well, like I said toward the end. If the only mod I got this summer was coilovers, I could afford them (ahem... assuming my parents didn't jump in the way and say I was spending too much for a single upgrade to an econobox).

However, with exhaust, I'd still have a good bit of cash to play with for other mods, since it is as much as half the price of the suspension (if coilovers).

With anywhere from $300-500 extra dollars, I could potentially squeeze a few more ponies out (UR pulley set), stiffen something up (RSB, motor mounts), or something else I'm not thinking of.

I'm really close to calling it a made-decision and going with a BRM... but not quite there.

Plus, who doesn't want to feed Greg's family? :D

Blah blah blah. It sounded nice and all, but I really needed to hear it under load, that's where the magic happens :D. So yeah, pretty sure I'm gonna go that way after last night... actually it's mostly because I really don't want to spend the amazing amount of time (and effort) it will take to justify spending ~$800 for shocks/springs to my parents right now, no matter how much fun that'd be. Plus, if I got suspension I'd want to test it, and my tires wouldn't take too kindly to that... damn POS Firestones... GAR!

I want my tires to explode, then I get new ones (my parents are really cool about stuff that isn't my fault)... yeah I'm a bit spoiled. I'd kill to have some decent tires on this car... every tight turn you can hear the edge of the tire with a nice "wizzzzzzzzzzshhh" sound going... look at the edge and you can see what's going on... I'll take pics sometime and show you guys how bad it is from when I first got the car. It's not like I slide it around or anything either.
