since i decided i wanted to standout in the world of turbo 240's and not SR my ride..i've got a great running 91' with 143k on it, 5 speed hatch. i just finished up buying adj. arms, links, and q45 lsd for the car so my suspension is buttoned up with the exception of the coilovers which come with christmas : )
i've done a bit of reading and i picked up a ka24de for 10 bucks, 45k,(short story, car getting scrapped and he only charged me for using the lift to put it in the truck)....so in the last week ive neatly taken apart the motor, bagged and labeled 90% of the parts. i've got a couple of questions, im new..so im sorry if i may be wrong
im basically throwing away the rods/pistons to go for stronger h-beam and lower compression pistons(about 8.8 is what i hear is good). i was looking around at eagle rods for 400 bucks yay?..nay?, or woudl the AMS sportsman for 395 be better?
i think since its in great condition i can slip by on not having to bore the cyl. but balance the crank, but my main q is, how key is it to have the head modified? deff a mild port to clean things up, but how well would opening up the valves be on HP? or can you run the head stock
by no means am i going to leave it alone. just will be strapped after buying the bottom end parts. keeping income in mind, it'll be another 3 or 4 months before i can say im completely done and drop it in(turbo, manifold, electronics, exhuast, FMIC, etc), so im in no rush to put things together, im tryin to do a mild 300-350hp on around 15-17 lbs, built the RIGHT WAY
i'd love to hear what you have to say, info on quality affordable parts, tips, or what have you. i'd much appreciate it in advance
..thankyou
