Hey guys,

After carefull consideration I am going to enlist in the Marines, I will probably use the delayed entry program and go in after I am 21 in July and will try to get my MOS in the Computers/Communications/Intelligence/Electronics area. If there are any Marines on here any advice would be greatly aprecciated. I have already spoken with a friend of mine who was in for about 3 years and he has given me some good advice already. Thanks

Aaron..

we dont ask why, we just do or die. My brother was in the Navy, bad experience for him. Lots of brainwashing I hear. He wanted to be a SEAL, found out he was color blind, so out he goes. That sucks, it was like a dream or something for him. He passed everything else, but, because of him being color blind.

The Marine Corps is not for everyone, think it over very carefully. I didn't like it when I was getting rode on for taking care of my troops and getting awards for job performance. I wouldn't change a thing though the Marines as a whole was a life-altering experience for the good with me. I saw a lot of people who fit right in and are happy there still. The Air Force just looks like a summer camp to me except for those Pararescue guys. Computers is a good MOS to translate into the civilian world if that's your plan.

Security forces for five years in the Air Force Huah!! The only summer camp I got was in a 20,000 sq mile sandbox but it's all good. I hope you like having stupid haircuts. That goes for every branch, I hate shaved heads.

I got out as a Sergeant after 5 years and all in all I say it's a good experience. Make sure you get everything you are promised in writing on the contract. If it's not on there guess what, you aint getting it. Take every oppurtunity to put as much money as you can into the GI bill, you'll thank me later when you are living off of it. Never volunteer for anything, you'll learn this eventually. Remember, boot camp is all a game to break you. Don't be stupid and do as you're told and you'll be fine.

I'm going to tell you just like I told my friend in the Marines...If you see a dead Iraqi soldier laying around, cut off his toe (any toe) put it in a bottle with strong alcohol, formaldahyde etc. and send it home to me :) I WILL get an Iraqi soldier toe for my mantle.

How are you using it for anything other than school or school related items. I got about 30k just waiting to be used.
