going into gear w/o clutch while motor is running.

okay i'm in the process of building a 240sx. its an 89 with a de swap. and today i was tryna install the slave cylinder but uhh the line from the master cylinder was leaking on the threads so i didn't have a chance to get to actually get the slave to work. i have no drive shaft installed either so... here i go i started the motor in first gear. and iunno if its suposed to stall or idle normally w/o the drive shaft in. and then i moved it to neutral and then i went into second gear with no clutch assembly :S. so i said wth. do you guys know what i should use to stop the line from leaking? somebody told me teflon tape imma try that later. imma try to get the slave cylinder to push the clutch fork first before i start taking the transmission off. something could prolly jus had got stuck or something
