I have had my 94Q for about 3 yrs now. I have put a lot of money into it too. I am lucky and I know an Infiniti tech and he has done a lot of the work for me on the side. I have started having a lot of problems with the car. I thinkt he TB needs to be replaced I am having injector problems and I think it might be using a little oil.

My question is I have put a LOT of money into this car. If I was to purchase a 96 would most of the parts I bought for this car transfer over? I know 94 to 96 are pretty close in parts but I don't know how close. The 96 I am looking at has just at 99k and my car has 177k so interior and things like that are in better shape also. Same color interior and exterior too. Here is a quick list of things I have bought for my car, if you guys could give me an idea of what might and might not work I would appreciate it.

I am thinking about using the 94 as a parts car for the 96 do you think this would work?

There isn't a single item on your list that's different from 94 to 96 - they're all the same. However ...

... be advised that the 96 motor does not have variable valve timing. It's a detuned motor and there's nothing to be done about it, so you'll be losing some oomph. It's also OBDII, which means ECU mods are out. On the plus side, it's known to be "slightly" more reliable than the 94-95.

Primarily, engine and sensor components, harnesses, etc, are different between models, if at all. Very few.

IMO its a losing situation to get ANOTHER Q and take a hit on the current one. I would personally bite the bullet and make your current one good.

What problems are you having?

It is actually the mass air not the TB like I said before. I get pretty hard bucking at idel in gear. I know of one bad injector and was told by the tech the rest are going out. I have started to hear the hum from the rear trunk area and I am getting a bit of a tick sound from the motor and I have changed the oil very recently.

I might actually have a line on another 94Q that is super cheap with 60k original miles! I even ran the carfax and it is real.

As annoying as it would be to move parts between the two I can get this other Q for a good amount less than all the repairs my current Q needs. that is sort of where I am stuck.

Yea the injectors are what I am most worried about. I know from Infinit Scottsdale that they are $140 or so if I remember right. So 140 x 8 = $1,120 without the labor of a tech on top of that. I can probably change them myself but the Q is my main transportation. Even with used part prices this other Q is cheaper than that.

Not looking to trash my car but I might put it back to stock and see what I can get for it on the open market.
