From what everyone on another 240 forum has said. This is what I can sum up about them.

They are the same as Megan. They will ride nice for half year and then become "soggy" afterwards. "You get what you pay for"Don't cheap out on moving parts. Why risk having something break on the highway while going 60+

That's what everyone said in another forum's thread which was basically 14+ pages of hate. I'm buying the Suspension set from Godspeed but for coilovers I am getting Stance GR+. I have never driven these so I can't give you any good reviews on the Godspeed coilovers.

I purchased them despite all the hate. The only reviews I have listened to all happen to come from ACTUAL users of the product, and they all only have said good things, in exception of ONE person and he looked at them and didnt like the welds. They looked fine to me

I'll be doing a review probly at the end of the month, see my build thread, link in sig

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like the people buying Godspeed coilovers don't really have deep pockets or just want to have coilovers to say they have coilovers. As far as their opinions and or reviews go, I would take most with a grain of salt because if they had ever taken a ride in a car with good suspension, they wouldn’t be thinking about the cheap stuff.

If this makes no sense, I'm sorry, best way I can translate thought into text. Hopefully my point gets across.

Why would you cheap out anyway...save for one more week and step up and get something nice, I see new JIC, Tein, Apex'i etc. selling for no more than $250 bucks more than Megans (E-Gay). I hate MR and think that their stuff is still very cheap compred to the higher end companies. You get what you pay for and if you really want a good experience get something nice.

Gotta pay to play. Your paying for years of research, development, quality control, customer service. Koni backs up their products very well with good warranty's. I dont think godspeed puts in the R&D and backs their products as good as koni. See what happens when you stick a ksport, D2, godspeed, megan coilover on a shock dyno, the results are not pretty. I'm just trying to give helpful advice because I wish I would of did everything right the first time. Would of saved me headache and money in the long run. Ive had my S14 for almost 7 years now.

For those who dont want to deal with putting together a coilover kit together you can get a nice set of cusco's, used ohlins, etc for a decent price.

For those of us who dont track our cars or drift using the cheaper stuff is cool if your doing it for looks. As long as the car is reliable enough and does not cost a grip to fix. But if you guys are serious about performance its def. worth it to save your money for the good stuff.

^^ you hit the nail on the head....

suspension is just as expensive as motor work and making big power.... you should always pay for brand name stuff...

i went the spring/strut combo since i daily my 240, but i desided on koni's due to their years of reasearch. i wish i had ground controls (maybe after college) but i went w RSR springs and im totally happy w the handling of the car for now, and the adjustability it gives me when i finally autocross my car. yea for what i payed for everything i could have gotten megans or a cheap coilover, but why risk bottoming out your daily? just doesnt make sence to me

end rant

Rsr springs are the best spring you can get I think for a S-chassis. But koni>megan any day of the week in the handling department, durability, and warranty/customer service. Its not even about bottoming out your car. If you get the housing that veilslide180sx or whoever that guy is on ka-t.org that makes the koni yellow housing for our cars you can then get your car pretty low with koni yellow/ground control setup.

Well I will be seeing around in september, they seem to have good customer service with me. There basic set up wasnt availabe for another month, but they upgraded me for the same price as there basics. So once I get them, get the car aligned.. Ill give a review. Might you know its my DD with once a month AutoX, with horribe struts allready... so of course im gonna notice a way better ride. Also I dont want nothing happening ( blown, welds break which is scary ) but if thats the case, I have back up money for some decent struts and shocks. So look at me as the test dummy, there customer service won me over. If they screw up on me, Ill be happy to accept all flaming for my stupidity... thoe we will never know.

I've never heard the grain of salt saying so i didnt get that, but I still get your point. obviously the people who get godspeeds dont have "deep pockets," and neither do people who get megan because they were the cheapest before. Megan is trusted because of their reviews, and if you look, the positive reviews come from actual users, cant say that about negative reviews however...
StandardProspect wrote:if you are going the cheaper route on coilovers i would sugest megan street or track coils. there are tons of reviews on them, just search.
If everyone thinks this way then a new company will never get reviews. I know godspeed isnt new, but this product of theirs is... imagine if everyone said this when megan first started, and I'm SURE they did, but the first couple people tried the product, then more, and more, thats how reviews build, and thats the only way anyone can say anything about a new product... wait.

Many reasons for many different people, maybe he doesn't have a ton of money

And you pay more for higher end products, but megan still has good reviews, despite prices right?

Leading me to my next point, you DONT always get what you pay for. Look at exhaust... hks hi-power for the s13, starting at like $600 plus shipping (hks.com) go to ebay and BAM, knockoff for $140 shipped. Whats the difference? a name, thats just about it

Blah blah blah blah, using exhaust for an example... they researched and figured how to bend some pipe and I have to pay them upwards of $600? No thanks. Back to coils... YES, godspeed gives a 1 year warranty on the product. Sure, not as good as koni (idk, maybe it is, i didnt look and I dont care) and their price difference reflects that.

Have you done this? Also, stick them all on a money scale, the results are not pretty either.

So what have you cheaped out on that could have saved you all this money? Cuz I'm pretty sure I can buy 5 ebay exhausts before I REALLY start to lose money.

Test dummy? You missed my thread huh?

See, another positive experience from someone who is actually going through with it, but only hate from those who don't... hmmmm
i240sx wrote:stop hating on cheap stuff...

Companies as little as megan and as big as apexi and hks, despite the difference in price and size, have at least one thing in common, they all started small. They all introduced new products that got responces like "wow you might as well buy (insert other product here), you KNOW its good." If everyone keeps such a closed mind and doesn't even try stuff then we will all be monopolized sooner or later. Companys get these long lists of great reviews because they have come over time, they dont develop overnight.

The thing that irks me the most is when people bash on a product they have never tried before. It even baffles me at how they THINK they know anything. For example...

I hate deep fried twinkies, the thought and idea is disgusting. Whats wrong with regular twinkies? You know they're good.

I have never EVER had a deep fried twinkie. A snack, deep fried, does sound a little over the top, but I'm SURE they're delicious, because people who have actually eaten them have told me. So i'll try them, and then spread the word, but ONLY AFTER I TRY THEM.

Notice a similarity here? Try, test, then talk.

Bottom line is...The reason why these cheaper parts are available because a so-called "good" set of coilovers cost more than $2000. If u have $2000 for a set of coilovers for a car that cost $1500, then u are the idiot.

I bought the MR manifold instead of the Tomei because they are very similar and for $130 I got the mani and outlet pipe. And with about 20 minutes of minimal grinding with a dremel tool, I feel they probably flow better then the tomei parts and I havent had any issues with it.

Also, quite a few professional drift groups use the MR track coilovers and they are happy with them, ie, Enjuku. And they can afford the red smoke tires too, so, there is no reason why they shouldnt be using Zeal or Cusco or some other extraordinately expensive coilover. So, all u rich kids with your Tomei, Cusco, Zeal, JIC, parts. Hope u are all happy to know that all that money U spent is all for nothing.

To all of U with the JIC coilovers that were close to $3000, I have heard that the shocks blow out under harsh driving conditions, so, when they do...I will ask u this.

"how does it make u feel that my MR coilovers are still great and your $3000 coilovers need to be replaced?"

I'm sure the people with the $3000 coilovers don't really give a damn as they can just get them rebuilt or probably buy new ones...but that's just i'm thinking

buy what you want man, it's your car, it's crap your buying to put on it, if you can't afford it then buy some cheap parts, if you can afford it, buy something nice or don't, it's up to you. but like it was said, you get what you paid for.

Oi. I really hate these kinds of threads. They don't breed any good posts and just incite flaming as soon as one person says "don't cheap out", which is followed up by some advocate of the cheaper company firing back.

Buy what you want, and if you go the cheaper route, you run the chance of having it blow up on you or lasting quite a while. Knock off companies can produce good parts, but their QC system is flawed and makes their product hit or miss.

I'll use airsoft as an example. Japanese airsoft guns are expensive (primarily due to the monopolistic hold the country has let their domestic companies get away with) Many companies in China started producing knockoffs of the popular guns. I have seen many of those guns hold up to some amazing stress tests, but I have also seen more of them break from normal use. I bought a knockoff M14 which was 1/4 the cost of the Japanese version. It did what I expected it to do. Work well for a few weeks, but the moment you started messing with it (ie replacing the unreliable parts with reliable parts) it broke. Massively. I took a gamble, and I have a $100 parts pile right now.

Some China clone companies have made good names for themselves. Classic Army and Echo1 come to mind. Both are considered to be reputable, but started off as nothing more than clone companies.

The same holds true in the car world. The QC is a bit better from my observations. Most parts coming from Japan cost more due to the market in Japan and the companies not willing to alter their price for the American market. So the price differentiation will be greater when comparing Japanese products to knockoffs.

Not always true, and has been proven time and time again. Once again another comment from a rich kid with his s-14 and two bikes??? Obviously u can afford the expensive stuff, but, by the looks of your mods to your s-14, U have to know that with your SSAC exhaust and OBX short throw shifter.

Of course anything can happen, to ANY part, reguardless of price, the odds are just against cheaper stuff. BUT, it doesnt automatically mean cheap = bad

By no means am i rich, and i think you took my post the wrong way...yea, i have some nice things and yea i have some not so nice things...my exhaust is ssac, it works for me cause it's stainless steel and was cheap, yea i have obx short throw, but it doesn't make noise like the b&m, do i want a nicer exhaust and a better shrot throw, yes but i have other things i wanna buy, like better suspension components and more engine parts...

I have what i have because it's what i wanted at the time and it's what i could afford...i'm not debating that...i was simply stating that people who do have expensive parts can and probably will just replace them like a lot of my friends do...and i also have friends who have really cheap stuff because they can't afford, it's okay...

All I know is that I do pretty damn well for myself and I couldnt afford to own and insure a 98 Kouki, and two crotch rockets. I aint poor at all, but if I can save myself some money by buying some ebay parts...I'm going to and so is anyone else that cant afford to buy the $2000 coilovers out there.

If your not well off then u are getting money from somewhere because working the front desk at a Hotel doesnt pay for a car and motorcycle hobby. Those are two new street bikes, and an expensive platform to start with. I got your post perfectly, and like I said, the statement..."you get what u pay for" Does not always apply.
