240s are actually quite good in front end collisions.

Your first vehicle is supposed to be about as old or older than you are.

I honestly dont know why the Aveo exists. GM barely makes a dime off of it and it makes the whole company look bad. A first-time new car buyer will develop a hatred for the brand and vow to never purchase another when he's finally able to afford to upgrade. They're almost better off conceding that entire segment to Hyundai rather than offering anything at all.

This, I suspect, is why so many Cavalier owners ended up in Accords later on (unless they were on meth, which a lot of Cavalier owners tend to be).

CAFE standards Jesda!

The Aveo increases the overall fleet MPG of Chevy.

Oh, I see. Consumer Reports is involved.
I've asked this several times to different people but have never gotten an answer. WHY all the hate for Consumer Reports? Their info is based off of peoples reviews. They are completely independent of any car company.

That's exactly the problem. It's based off consumer's reviews.

I know you heard about the guy in the Prius with the runaway gas pedal that called the highway patrol. The highway patrolman told the driver over the loudspeaker to put the car in neutral, and the driver shook his head "no". When asked why he didn't obey the patrolman's order to put the car in neutral, he responded "I was afraid it would make the car flip".

HE THOUGHT PUTTING THE DAMNED THING IN NEUTRAL WOULD MAKE IT FLIP!

And these are the same people writing these reviews for Consumer Reports.

Uh, no. :bash: Their testings and reviews are performed by engineers who put the cars through a very detailed series of standardized tests.

Their reliability studies are based on owner surveys from their large base of subscribers. They don't solicit "opinions". it's a detailed choice questionaire listing trouble areas you've had in the last 12 months of ownership of a particular year/model. So for an 09 Toyota prius, you're looking at the average responses of hundreds of owners, not just one guy.

The problem that many enthusiasts have with CR is that they approach all vehicles the exact same way, as a consumer product.

Could you point me to it?

I've relied on Consumer Reports and have found them to be spot on. Nearly every Toyota on their list is top rated and I don't care what you say you'll never convince me that the current GM's are better than the current Toyota's. GM's fall apart after 100,000 miles (most of them). I've personally owned a Toyota and never had one single problem with it (keep in mind it was top rated in Consumer Reports). Sure, any car that you baby to death is going to last a long time but just regular use a Toyota will generally outlast a GM (with some exceptions, of course).
