I have a 90 auto sohc which i converted to a dohc 5 speed . I had a dohc motor that ran just fine in it until it spud a rod bearing . I got another dohc motor n put it in . i have prob set the timeing 20+ times with it . The only way it will run is with the distribtor one tooth advanced and the distribitor fully advanced . once it actually cranks after paddeling the gas and multable turnovers there are no mechanical noises or rattels but it hesatates terribaly and the header will start glowing red in the matter of a min or 2 . Also i have done a fully emmisions removeal 4 into one header with a 2 1/2 strait exhaust . Which all worked fine with the last motor . Any help will be greatly appreceated . Thanks again

your timing is way off man.....follow carefully.....find your comp stroke of the #1 cylinder by removing your spark plug and wading some rage and putting it in the hole...bump..NOT crank the engine over..when your close to TDC "top dead center" the rag will fly out...now look at your crank pully and rotate the engine to top dead center......once at TDC...check your cams for alighnment...they should be facing away from eachother..BUT slightly upwards allso....once the cams are aligned correctly...rotate the crank again..till your at 20 degree's BEFORE top dead center.....check your dizzy to see if your firing the #1 cylinder...ajust dizzy to match.....put her back to gether and enjoy!...this concludes "timing made easy"..

if your crank is "Lie'n" to you, then you have a lot more problems.

Ok so she is running good but i still have a slight problem . Its a pain in the arse to cold start . Even tho its not really cold here now . I have to pat the gas while i turn it over . I have the dizzy dead in the middle and it runs fine once it heats up for a sec . Any clues ???

Check start signal at ecu when cranking. Should be 12v. Its the orange wire.
