I was wondering how to make the car stand out more in the dark, and while I was browsing I say something called GloRyder. It got me thinking, instead of having the wheels lightup with some cheap LEDs, why not have the whole car paint light up?! It made me remember those cheap dollars store glow in the dark pens where you would write stuff on the wall and that only with the lights out you could see them.So I started searching for some glow in the dark paint, and next thing you know, BAM Pure Blue Glow in the Dark Paint. It looks awesome! imagine that on a car?! Daytime Color: Almost Clear with White-Blue Tint. that's perfect since I don't want something that looks weird during the day and nice during the night.

So step two: search if its doable. Well turns out it is! they even have a how too http://glowinc.com/glow-in-the-dark/glow-car.aspxThey say that It takes between 1 and 3 gallons to paint a whole car. But I want something subtle so 1 gallon should be enough. 1 Gallon - $455.98 = its not bad for a glow in the dark car, and it lasts 9 hours per sunlight charge

step 3: PHOTOSHOP! (crappy 15 minute shop, so excuse the quality )

step 4: find a paint shop! step 5: get money or get sponsored lol

So, am I crazy or what? What do you guys think about my idea?

P.S.: oh yeah it's my 200th post since I registered! Just wanna say you guys are awesome!

i don't think it's legal, also this might not be glossy enough to paint on a car

I don't think you read because "Daytime Color: Almost Clear with White-Blue Tint", so it's doesn't affect the real color and once you applied it to the car "One or more coats of pure clear coat should be placed over the glow paint as a protective layer and to increase life." so it's still gonna be glossy

I'd check if this is legal. I had a friend get pulled over and given a ticket once because he had blue LED's on his hood (where the wiper fluid squirts out). They're illegal here because they "mimic emergency vehicles". lol. Basically only red and blue are outlawed here. Very retarded.

I dont think it's legal, for the same reason P-N-P HID kits, and things like neons, wheel lights, and those tacky wiper lights are illegal... they can distract other drivers/cause accidents... at least thats why they say they're illegal... have you ever seen anyone get in an accident for noticing another well lit car, lol

Ok guys, I checked and in quebec there is absolutely no laws in the CSR (Code de la sécurité routière) that require certain colors or limit the type of paint used. It can be all chrome or fluorescent, or any color you want as long as it doesn't have blinking and spinning lights like the cops or imitates the look of a cop car.

So I'm pretty sure its legal here

Are you actually seriously considering this? Not to be rude, but I think it would look bad (as in not good). Just my opinion though.

Honestly, I REALLY thought you were joking with this thread.... i can't believe you're actually thinking about doing this to the A/C..... Seriously, I think you should take the time and paint one of those kiddie four wheelers with this stuff first, then see how it looks... iI wouldn't ruin my car on an experiment...if it looks wack, you're gonna kick yourself in the butt!!!!

If your really serious about this than I have nooooo problem with it, but I would STRONGLY suggest you do a test on something as mentioned above.

Just think though, your car will be a beacon at night no matter what. So theres no stalking that ex-girlfriend of yours cause you'll stand out way to much

you neglected to mention that its a tyco toy lol.... try it on metal first... see how well it reflects under a clear coat... this is fun to discuss but the logistics of it dont make sense any way you slice it in my eyes.. unless you are gonna go full-on baller style with it... then you might as well sell it to a big company http://www.slashgear.com/never...2.php

This is how it would theoretically look like at night with a full charge (if not it will look darker, and also here there is a shutter lag that is simulated, thats why all the colors look brighter than they are):

I think It looks awesome! I've been wondering if a full body clear bras exist so i can paint over it. If after a while I find it to be too much for me to handle then I can always remove the skin then sell it on ebay

I think it would be more logical to go to one of those sites that sell full vinyls... like they have for rappers album release parties... maybe get that in a glow... are you really considering this?

You are missing the point here, during the day I want it to seem like a normal Altima coupe, then at night the transformation begins lol. this "Pure Blue Glow-in-the-Dark Paint" is transparent in the day and with it during the transition to night time the car keeps lit with an awesome blue glow (less than in the picture since I'm just gona use maybe one coat or two hence the 1gallon, with a clear coat over it to keep shine and protect the paint). With vinyl its gonna look like crap during the day and maybe nice during the night, unless you where talking about some transparent vinyl material that would already be coated with the paint plus a clear coat.

And yeah, if I can manage to get some samples and it looks good, then I'm soo doing this, not now but maybe during the summer.

I just need to choose between directly on the car or over a full body clear bra

Ok I did receive a couple of email from people who wanted to know how I did the photoshop above, so instead of replying to each of you, I decided to make a quick (not super detailed) tutorial image:

Yeah, I know, too much free time
