Glovebox lamp replacement with LED?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi guys,

Has anyone replaced the single lamp in the glovebox with a drop in LED replacement? I think it is the same package and housing as used for the footwells. I am looking for an LED replacement to get more light in the glove compartment.

I have recently been replacing the interior lighting in my EX35 with much brighter LEDs. I used this kit http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ORO ... ge_o01_s00 plus some Natural White Fuse LEDs for the sunvisor vanity mirror from http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/ . These replacements really helped in the trunk where the OEM lighting was DIM. I camp a lot and it's so much easier to look around in the trunk for things now with super bright lights installed.

Ok, update: That little glass bulb is a wedge bulb that can be pulled out. My LED didn't fit very well in there and ended up shorting out and blowing a fuse somewhere.

A circuit including the rear running lights, the glove box light, and the center console and clock lights is now out. There are many other posts for M35s, Nissans, and FX's where others had this exact problem. Two posters were even trying put an LED in same as me. See this post: just-blew-a-fuse-t498755.html My problem is that I can't find the right fuse. I've been through every fuse twice now I think. On the FX forum they found a hidden fuse box that's not in the manual near the other one in the battery compartment. See this post http://www.infinitiscene.com/forum/thre ... Light-Fuse But the EX doesn't have that one.

Does anyone know where the the rear running lights fuse is please?? I think DRL may also be on it.

Did you open up the black fuse box to the left of the battery? That one holds a bunch of fuses for the exterior lighting and other electrically powered accessories. I saw the box there, but for the life of me I couldn't get it open.

You are right! There is a 3rd fuse box to the left of the battery!

But I can't get it open. It's possible the battery or plastic cowling needs to be removed to reach it?

Is the battery easy to get out and back in?

Btw TPS warning is also on today. Not sure if related. Tires seem fine.

It looks like it might be much easier to get it open if the battery is out of the way. Also, the fuse box slides and clips onto a metal bracket to the left. There are two tabs you have to push to unlock it from the bracket; then you can slide it up and off the bracket. There might be some harness you could disconnect from the bottom, but I couldn't see in that deep without taking the battery out anyway.

Battery removal is pretty straightforward. It's much easier to take out if you remove the plastic trim piece that surrounds the battery enclosure. Take out the three push pin clips behind it, the one near the corner in front, and the one on the fender side, and it should come off pretty easily. The rest of it is getting the nuts loosened on the battery bracket and terminals. The hardest part is probably dealing with the battery's weight and bulk.

While the TPMS light could be due to anything, I wouldn't be surprised if a battery in one of the sensors is starting to die. Happened to me twice on my '08 over a year ago.

Thanks NJGuy for the help! Your hints worked great and everything works now - including the little LED that caused all that trouble. I had to shave it a bit so that it fit in the socket.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you!

I actually have to thank you as well. Participating in this thread actually motivated me to take another look at my rear defroster, which stopped working in the fall. While the fuses all checked out ok, something with the process of removing and reinstalling them got the defroster working again. :mike

A little late now...But that fuse box has a clip you push and the whole thing pulls out so that you can access the fuses without removing the battery. Also, I bough an LED replacement for the glove box and footwell lights from VLEDS.com. Bulb number 74.
