the search actually got me confused. Here are my questions:
1. dissconnect the battery and airbag wires?
2. the removal of the undertray looks straighforward, but what is a kick plate? Is it on the left or right and why does this need to be removed?

thanks

Disconnect the battery (negative side only) as a precaution since there is an air bag connector (yellow harness) behind the glove box. Below is the procedure I used (posted some time ago).

Remove the panel (includes the trim piece) under the glove box. To do so, place your fingers in the holes in the panel and pull forward. It comes off fairly easily. Stow it back slightly in without covering the 3 screws of the glove box. [Not Required - It may be helpful to disconnect the floor light and other electrical connector, and then remove the panel from the car so the glove box has somewhere to rest].

Remove the 3 screws under the glove box, and 4 screws found inside the glove box at the top, including the striker. Pull gently and the glove box comes out. Let it rest on the floor as much as possible. There is no need to disconnect the wires (however I did initially because I wasn't sure where the filters were located).

Just to the left of center will be found two gray vertical plastic pieces that almost look like a split ruler. (Open your new micro filters and take a look at the end of them and you will recognize the ones currently installed in your vehicle). Remove the clip on the lower filter and pull to remove. Be careful, the clip may fly off!!! The upper filter pretty much falls out.
Install the new filters and glove box/panel in reverse order.
