Funny how purchases happen sometimes. 2 days ago Glock was the farthest firearm away when it came to what I was looking at. I was positive I only wanted a full steel frame gun of some sort. Something like a 1911 or a CZ75 etc. Then I shot a Glock 21 Gen 3 at the local range last night. It felt right and I was able to shoot some pretty decent groups considering I'd never shot one before.

I liked it so much I decided to buy a Gen 4. Now I have to wait for it to ship...FCUK I hate waiting!

Oh man, should've stuck with the gen 3. There are SO many more customizable parts for the gen 3. The gen 1 thru gen 3 all can swap a ton of parts, but the gen 4 is pretty much proprietary as far as modifications are concerned.

Either way, congrats and enjoy your nearly unlimited aftermarket support as compared to my XD.

There are only so many parts that I'd want to customize...like sights...that's it. Besides, you're acting like the Gen 4 won't have a huge aftermarket following...lol. It's a Glock for crying out loud. I can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone that has 2 of them.

Aftermarket is ginormous. Rumor is that some of the new gen 4's are shipping with the beaver tail back strap! Lemme know if you get one.

Gen 4 will accept most of what any of the previous will. triggers and mags (unless you switch the mag catch to left hand release) anything you'd want to change, the gen 4 will take. Look at http://www.lonewolfdist.com/

Hm, that's pretty much opposite of what my friend was telling me. He was saying that they changed so much on the Gen 4 that there wasn't much left that interchanged.

This was really recently after the Gen 4 came out though, so it could have been simply unverified information.

From what I've read, they changed the recoil spring, mag release and gave it the ability to be ambi. Which I won't. Everything else should be the same.

Regardless, I'm totally stoked.

Where are you guys buying ammo? 45 ACP and cheap. Might have to pick up a .22 conversion so I can shoot it as often as I want at the range.

PPR breakdown search:

http://ammoseek.com/

I found .45ACP on there for $.37 a round. Cheapest I've seen anywhere else was $.45 a round.

I go for 230gr in my .45s I'll shoot lighter if that's all I can find though. As for defense ammo, The two new kids on the block are the federal hst and the Winchester pdx1. They've been giving stellar performance in testing compared to the old guard of hollow point bullets.

Hst, when normally priced is fantastically cheap for one of the best loads on the market. It's usually about 70 cents a round. Cheap enough to wear you can get plenty of practice with the round you'll bet your life on.

Lemme know if you get 4 backstraps instead of 2 with it!

I gotta do something about the slide bite I get. He'll, maybe I'll get stupid and mold my own extended beaver tail on the frame.

I went gay and got the Hornady Zombie Max ammo (Critical defense with a green tip)

But hey, it was the exact same price as the CD, so why not? I like green better than red anyways.

All silly marketing aside, it's not a bad choice. Hornady has always produced good stuff.

Yeah, if I could find it at a decent price I'd get Hornady of any kind for my carry.

Finding range ammo at less than .50 a round is my main objective at this point. I just carry a cheap Winchester HP.

That's the fcukin truth!

I'm picking up a 22 conversion kit as soon as my taxes come in. Only way I can afford to play as often as I want to...which is at least once a week.

How often do you guys shoot? When I move up to BFE PA I'll be shooting all the time...right at home baby!

Have been going once a week since I have a membership at a local indoor range.

But its only 50-100 rounds each time. Can't afford this ammo currently and trying to stock pile a little.

I picked up my AR in Dec and haven't put but about 350 round through it. Did get lucky to find Fed 100rd boxes at Walmart yesterday, so got 3 but 1 is for a friend.

For your 22 conversion, the issue is finding 22LR right now, I see it less than I do anything else currently. I've been looking for some CCI 22LR for possibly doing a comp in April, have to have at least 300 rounds, I can't find any.

Dude, I feel so lucky that my local ammo store has pallets of ammo sitting in the floor and I have a huge stockpile of .22LR.

I'll check the prices on my local store. May be cheaper to buy bulk there and ship it to you flat rate. I'm cool like that.

If you find 22LR online usually looking for a limit of 1 box per customer and with shipping for bulk stuff you end up paying over $40 for 500 rounds.

Cabelas had CCI minimag 100rds for $9, but limit of one with $6 shipping meant I wasn't paying over $15 for 100rds.

i have one. i got it from Ms.ImStricken from Christmas. LOVE IT. its much better than the other one (steel slide is too heavy and it fails to cycle very often). i got this one for $275(new) shipped on ebay. these have almost doubled in price. i see these for $495+ now because everyone wants to save their center-fire ammo

Ugh, the ammo lunacy is killing me.

Ammoseek.com

I saw some federal hst going for 40 bucks a box from a site I can't remember on there. Hst as I've gone on about more than once is a fantastic round. You can't find fmj for much cheaper right now. Get it, practice with it and carry it as long as it feeds and groups good.

500 rnds fired and no issues at all, to include getting beaned in the face by brass. I'll let you know if that happens.

If only I could find ammo locally...nobody has ANY.

Try looking for reasonably priced 9mm. It's heartbreaking.

Speaking of 9mm, I believe they were the only caliber plagued with brass to the face. Mine hasn't done it but only have 200 down range

And sweet for the beaver tail! When I get a 20, I think I'll only buy it if it has them.

I did however put a grip force adapter on my 19 last night. I like it, should work nicely. I just need to sand down the polymer pin on it to a flush fit and it'll be good to go.

The 17 has had a few too. And it was also happening to some of the new gen 3's. It's just MIM ejector. Glock is taking care of or you can get an after market extractor for around 60 bucks.

If you're looking for something in .45acp the G21 is going to be hard to beat.

Sent ya a PM.

any reason you want a .45 versus a 9mm or .40?
in my opinion the noise it generates inside a home/car, the larger flash at night, and the massive recoil is not worth it. id rather have more ammo, easier recoil, and cheaper training costs.
