Global Rallycross Hits CO! *UPDATED* 56K LOL!

The last chance qualifier before the X-Games hit CO today. Ken, the driver of the Pike's Peak 240sx, and I made a stop down at PPIR to give it a watch. Today was the first of two days, with the bracket type racing today, and the crazy 5 car a time racing tomorrow!

Sorry for the the cell pics, but I promise, day 2 will be loaded up with real pics and video!

In the 2WD drive class, an awesomely set up 240sx! Got 4th in its class today and put on a great show!



But everyone knows, this sport is all about the 4WD cars!

But, as is with racing, there will always be some sort of carnage.

Rhys' car was out early, and didn't even make qualifying



And, of course, coming up short over the big jump always ends bad!







Brian Deegan tagged another car...



But, in the end it who stays cleanest the longest who will prevail. A peek inside of Tanner's car



Brian Deegan would knock out the Skoda to get him into the Semi-Finals



And then Deegan would run to 3rd in the 4WD class, taking the Ford on to beat those Subarus!



In the finals, it would be Tanner Foust taking on Marcus Gronholm... an all Ford finale!



...and Tanner would edge out the win



And of course... an all Ford Podium...









And overall... these guys are just awesome to hang around... great personalities.

Funny thing is, that rally 240 looks to be in better condition than some of the street 240sx I've seen.

And after a hard day of racing, the 2WD 6 car final! The 240 stayed in 2nd the whole race behind the Porsche, but had engine problems on the last lap.... SR20 fail? :P














And then on to the big 4WD final... 8 cars... all pushing for some exposure as the X-Games are coming up quick. The orange car, driven by a local guy to me, Nathan Conley had a broken car and knew he was getting dead last.... so he just kept jumping the jump for the fun of it!















And a dramatic fight for 2nd leads to some more carnage on the last lap!
