This might be a little off topic, but I'm wondering if anyone hasexperience with interior glass mount am/fm radio antennas.

Googling doesn't turn up much, but several show up on eBay and theyclaim an amplifier.price ranges from $13-$25 for what looks like the same thing.

I'm tired of my 1986 SE Pickup antenna breaking.

thank youCliff

Most glass mount antennas, whether amplified or not can be pretty iffy simply due to their design. A good radio antenna is usually about 18 inches long as the FM frequencies waves are about that long. Glass not only can interfere with some of the signal, but can limit how large the antenna can be. When I had my G35 coupe, the antenna was mounted in the rear glass from the factory. It had some difficulty picking up local channels that are usually quite easy to receive via a more typical mast type of antenna.

That's good feedback. Thank you.Maybe I could mount an antenna off the back corner of the cab.

Anything to look for in a high quality fm antenna other than length?

While it's not the same thing, I have a TV antenna installed on the rear glass of my Titan. My reception is utter crap...

You can order a windsheild with the antenna wire built in.

The other thing you can do is look at the older 720's that had their antenna securely mounted to the a-pillar.

In my opinion look at the solid wire version used on the Xterra. It should work for the D21.

Interesting possibilities: What is an a-pillar?

I did a quick Google on the 720 and Xterra but have not yet found a picture or sourc for the antennas you suggest.

Thank youCliff

The roof of every vehicle is supported by the vertical parts of the structure referred to as pillars.

The A-Pillar is the first pillar support of a vehicle's roof (It also supports the windshield).

Each Pillar is referred to by a consecutive letter from the front of the vehicle all the way to the back window. The more doors or windows you have the higher the letter designations for the pillars.

A-Pillar: Windshield supportB-Pillar: Generally the vertical post that the front doors catch is located.(If you have a reg cab pickup then all you would have is 'A' and 'B' Pillars.)C-Pillar: Generally the back window. (Unless you have a van or 4 door SUV)D-Pillar: If you have a D-Pillar then you have a really long vehicle!

The 720's antenna is mounted to the angled A-Pillar (side of the windshield)
